Re: Really Stocking Up?

I'm going to say no, because such outrageous taxes have slim to no chance of passing, and with this one being highly opposed and with very little support, I don't see it being a problem yet. Lets just hope I'm right though.

Re: Really Stocking Up?

Personally, I don't want to stock up now on what I may or may not like in the future. I'll continue to purchase based on what I think are good bargains.

If this bill passes into law, then I'll have to examine my smoking habits at that time.

Stocking up now reminds me of those people in the south that 'stock' up on bread and milk when the weather threatens half an inch of snow.

Re: Really Stocking Up?

sounds funny but I think a lot of politicians smoke cigars so that will probably help- might not but there could be worse people voting on this. Also I think most people (or at least I hope) do make a distinction between cigars and stogies. Maybe not everyone is a stogie smoker but people know there is a difference. Also I am still confused about online sales. I would hate to see my B&M go out of business but I still buy most of my cigars online and I always thought there was no tax online.

there is no way this tax could pass. Every B&M would be out of business.

Re: Really Stocking Up?

It would probably be more effective to contact your Senators and Representatives. Expressing your opinion/views concerning this proposed tax.
Stocking up might be a option later if it looks like it might be passed.

Asking for outrageous tax hike is the first step. The goal maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of what they are asking for now.
Just like a offer to a car salesman. Offer something real low hoping to meet somewhere in the middle.

And if there was a 1/2 inch of snow to actually come here in GA, you bet your arse I would want to have a full humi for the Herf.

Re: Really Stocking Up?

The short stick here is, if such an outrageous piece of legislation passes, then I will more than likely smoke my remaining 1300 or so sticks, and then find a new pleasure hobby that costs less.

Re: Really Stocking Up?

I am not worried. The president will veto this bill.
Anyways I order most of my cigars online so untill they start taxing the web I am cool.

Re: Really Stocking Up?

I already have enough smokes to last me a few years
But this might push me to buy 1 or 2 boxes sooner rather than later.

I really dont think the new bill will float but you never know these days

Re: Really Stocking Up?

The answer is no. Bush has already said he would veto the legislation if it landed on his desk. He wants to tax employee benefits, not cigars.

Try this instead of buying sticks.
