The "Do I store in the box" question, revisited.
OK,.... so I went to the Oliva event this weekend, where they were promoting the new Serie V cigars. They were handing out a free robusto, so I stoked that baby up & that's all it took to start eying the boxes they had for sale. All I could think of was, "Damn, this would go great with a nice cup of coffee."
I ended up grabbing a 24-count box of churchills for 25% off MSRP and they threw in a 4-pack of Serie O perfectos, a Oliva Serie V embroidered polo shirt, Oliva Serie V embroidered ball cap and put me in a raffle for a 5er of Oliva limited run stogies. Also grabbed a few empty boxes and a tin of pipe 'baccy for the lottery I keep feeding ... All in all, not bad for a day at the B&M.So, I continue to set up the cooler I just purchased (It's about time, huh?) ... a Coleman steel-belted 54-qt. Wash it out & wipe down the empty boxes ... set up the oust fan ... wet the beads (60%) .... and open the wrapping on the new box of Oliva Serie V churchills I just purchased. I notice the box is varnished & the fresh smell of wood stain & varnish hits me. .... "ugh" For now, as I don't have room in my foot locker and my empty boxes were wet from wiping them down to re-season them ... I went ahead & placed the box in the cooler last night. I am wondering what effect that may have on the cooler & the wood of the empty boxes I have in there currently ... Guess I'll check em when I get home tonight ... hopefully I can retransplant the smokes in an empty box & ditch the new Serie V box for now. Anyhoo .... great day at the B&M ... wish I had some pics, but I had left the camera at work. |

The varnished smell will go away just have to let it breath on some corner outside..lol I wanted to add that you have some nice pick ups.

Got my eye on that steel belted Coleman, but I'm not sure I can justify the price for a cooler. I'd put them in the cooler and leave the empty box out for a while to allow it to breath and to allow the fumes to evaporate.

had the same deal w/the s.p. boxes-after letting them sit outside for a few days, they were ok-bonus: had the side benefit of seasoning them due to the humidity here!
