What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
Is most of your smoking trying new things or smoking things you know you already like? .

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
Since I'm still relatively new to this hobby, I find that a really high percentage of my smoking (75%+) is devoted to new cigars. I actually often kick myself for not sticking to cigars I already know I like, but the allure of trying something new is pretty hard to resist.

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
Trying new things means different things to different people. I stick mainly to certain brands, but even a 2001 Party Short is different from a 2006 Party Short. And so many different Partagas vitolas for instance. So between different vitolas and different crops, I could smoke Partagas for 3 months straight yet smoke a different cigar every day.
Confused? Good, I think I am confusing myself too. ![]()

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
That's going to depend on how long each person has been smoking.
I had my first cigar probably 5 or 6 years ago, but didn't get serious about it till only about a year ago. I'm trying as many new things as I can, but I already have some favorites that I buy. Haven't committed to any full boxes or bundles yet, but probably will soon. I would say that I'm about 60% new cigars, 20% favorites, and 20% pipe. But that's just right now - it will change as I tend to smoke more pipe during the winter, and more cigars in the summer. Rick |

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
Since i am butt spanking new to the cigar world. I try and smoke a different cigar each day,so far I have been able to do so.For myself buying and trying new things is fun. But I have found a few I really liked and picked up 5ers of.But for the most part 90% of the time I am trying something new.

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
I actually got it TomFor me, when I go to work, Im gone for 2 weeks at a time. I usually take 50 with me and half of those are new things that I have been gifted or have bought, the other half is my regular smokes. At home I mostly only smoke CCs and occasionally my regular NCs So I dont know what percentage I fit in, but thats what I do...hell Im confused now ![]()

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
i'm guessing 30% new for me-i've only been smoking for around 3 or 4 yrs, but i've managed to try almost all of what the B&M's around me carry-occasionally i'll pick up 5ers online, but mostly i try a few then buy a box if i like 'em on cbid-that sorta limits what's available, but it's what's affordable for now

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
because I am such a pain in the ass about trying new smokes under the "perfect" conditions, such as:
1. Drinking only water 2. Not having already smoked a cigar 3. Having enough time and attention to devote to the smoke. And so because I am so anal about it, I end up smoking something I already love if those conditions are not met. Really, really petty, but for some reason I always do it. And now as I write this, I am starting to think that I should just smoke the cigar, and let IT impress me, rather than trying to help it along. Hell, I may just try this the next time I smoke one of the 23 or so sticks I have waiting for the "perfect" time.

I haven't done the math, but I think I am about 20 to 25% new things.

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
I started out only smoking what I liked ( didn't have a lot of money to gamble with ) but now I like trying new things. I still don't like to gamble so most of my "unknown" cigars have been talked about or reviewed here. Thats why I hang out around here......"I like to play".

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
For a long time now I have basically smoked the same things over and over. About a month and half ago I started getting serious about smoking and collecting. My ratio now is approximately 80% new things to 20% stuff I know I like. I am getting to the point of having enough brands I like to start cutting that down.

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
Man, I'm the old guy here so far. I think because I buy boxes most of the time, and keep a lot of them on hand, I don't even come close to 1 in 5 being a new cigar (20%).

My time to try new things is at the B&M or through trades

Re: What percentage of your smoking is trying new things vs. regular favorites?
Right now I smoke at least one new stick a day and many days I only smoke 1 stick. Its begining to get hard to go for the new stick instead of the great stick but so far so good.
