FLorida, my home and home to little Havana (home of Don Pepins El Rey del los Habanos factory, which makes 5 Vegas Miami, Padilla, ERDLH, Pepin Signature, Vegas Cubana & Tatuaje. then theres Tabacalera Perdomo, PADRON and many smaler productions), is a impolrtant state in the world of cigars. You may recall my thread relaying a letter back from one of our Senetors Mel Marteniz, read it again http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=94708 but it seemed clear he was going to sign the horrid bill. In this article he seems to disagree or controdict his own previous statments.... leaving me unsure of where our senetor stands, perhap its not with the issue but with the party he belongs to's, stance on the issue is.

Anyway i though you might enjoy the coverage and i must admit my encouragement here on CS has taken a hamper as when i log on im reminded of this disgusting ass backwards bill (that within this very week, could seal the fate of our beloved industry- to an extent) and seeing all these cigars and threads im sadend and brought down! Hopefully we will prevail

Lastly i leave you with this- notice in the article, theres some predictions that the US is closer to a lift of the Cuban embargo (under Raul not Fidel) then the public is lead to belave and they even stretch far enough to guess... hmm cuban cigars are legal and on sale in the US... can you say $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$? then can you say $$$$$$$$ plus 53% sales tax? hmmm, interesting prediction/conspiracy- whatever. enjoy

on a serious note i want to ad i wish the examples they used were on cheaper cigars where the ca wont be in affect. I mean take a CAO Brazilia Amazon, were looking at 80 dollars extra for a "average" priced smoke like that. either way, its hard to see a 20,400% sales tax increse and NOT scratch the ol chin.

cigar smoker or not, they will wonder for a second if there beloved hobbie is next....
