Ahh ok, misread your response then. Sorry. Unless it was to rid themselves of a stockpile of products they would no longer be able to sell.

This was a tasty stick. Very light, it would probably compliment a cup of coffee in the morning very well.

Did someone say something about these being from Havana? I was under the impression (and yes, I'm dating myself too) that these were American made cigars...Of course, made famous by Edie Adams with her catchy tune of "Hey big spender, spend a little dime with me.

What a unique treat they must have been...something akin to opening up a time capsule.
The pre-embargos were U.S. made with some or all Cuban leaf...

Re: A can of Murial Cigars brought to you by n3uka...

I found them on ebay about 8 months ago. I can't remember the price.
I had begun looking because of this thread. http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=53778
I have been keeping an eye out for them at auction but haven't had anymore luck.

I thought it would be fun to open them at a herf and either be surprised or stunned. Luckily I was surprised by them being in great condition.

I don't know much about the cigars. We did a google search but couldn't find anything.
The following is the fine print on the side if anyone can find anything more about them.

Will have to pull a few more out at the next annual Trishield herf

On the contrary...for a while into the Sixties those few American cigar companies that had been foresighted enough to stockpile Cuban tobacco, or purchase the few remaining pre-embargo lots, were emphasizing that they still had Cuban leaf in their product.

I found tons of stuff about Muriel cigars.
They're an Altadis made brand and are still produced today.
I figure you mean you couldn't find anything in particular about the canned cigars?

Anyways, here's a cool old Muriel cigar commercial.

Thanks for sharing this, Dave. It was really cool.

Re: A can of Muriel Cigars brought to you by n3uka...

Amazing find!
I collect old radios, so I often find myself browsing dusty antique shops in the middle of nowhere. I swear I've seen a few of these cans over the years, during my weekend junk expeditions. A couple were still sealed too. Drat, now i know to jump on the next one I see.

A quick question. I often see old half empty boxes of Clear havanas when I'm out radio hunting. The cigars often look to be in decent shape, other than being dry. Would it be possible to bring these back in a humidor if they aren't too far gone?

That reminds me. I haven't found a new can for the next herf.
Can't break my tradition.

From what I understand (and have bitterly experienced), dry probably = dead.
