Question Havana Foot Locker/Medici/The Vault Owners!

Even after reading so many words of wisdom on purchasing humidors by the numerous BOTLs, I went with a 100ct and in less than three weeks, it is full. Now this idiot is paying the price of not listening to his elders and looking for a bigger humidor. After some research it seems to me this foot locker/medici/the vault humidor is THE humidor to have since the elusive Vicksburg was discontinued.

For those of you who own this humidor, how do you deal with what seems like about 12 inches of abyss at the bottom? Do you just store boxes only down there? It seems to be almost impossible to stores singles down there because it is just so deep. Anyone ever try to modify it to fit more trays that two? Any tip&tricks on utilizing this humidor would be appreciated.

Go with a cooler and beads, if you dont want to look at a cooler all the time hide it in a closet. You can store boxes and singles, they work great and are cheaper in the long run considering how many cigars it can hold.

Igloo, Thermos, Coleman, Coolerdor. You won't be sorry.
Especially during winter months. Temp. and RH hold a lot more consistent in the coolers.

I've seen some setups where the cigars were stacked vertically on the bottom.

I have the footlocker and I store full boxes and old boxes with singles on the bottom. I also lay one smaller cedar tray with singles on top of the boxes and under the trays that come with the humidor. If you get creative you can get alot of sticks in this humi.

I'm about to build trays for mine. 2 shelves that are about 5" high. I'll be sure to post pics when it is done (if the freaking wood ever shows up ).

Re: Havana Foot Locker/Medici/The Vault Owners!

I scored a used Vicksburg and I use the bottom for bundles. Longer bundles lay down and shorter ones I cut the top off the outer cello and put them in standing up. You can fit a lot of stogies in there if you just play around with the config. I've got about 100 cigars down there right now and have room for about 4 more bundles. Granted, 50 of those are Tropical Fevers from Holt's and they are small, but there is a ton of room down there.
There ended up being an odd sized space in one section and I put the rectangular humidifier standing up in it, works out well.

I use one side of the bottom for singles adn the other side for singles in boxes. I keep my full boxes in my coolerdor. This has beena great humi for me but be sure and go with the beads. I have 1.5lbs of beads in mine.

Like many others, I say go with a cooler, too. Target has a red 48qt Igloo for under $18. Beads are cheap. In the end, it's the way to go, IMHO.

I store boxes down there. You could buy some more trays, and just remove the two dividers for the bottom since they are movable and come right out. You could also just store singles in boxes if you dont want to put singles at the bottom by themselves.

I also use beads on the bottom, and modified one of the humidifiers on the top to hold beads in a bag. Works fine for me.

Buy a big ass cooler and keep your 100 count humidor inside it for storing opened bundles.

Thats what I'm doing now.

Re: Havana Foot Locker/Medici/The Vault Owners!

I understand all the suggestions for a cooler but I just feel like if I get the cooler I'm gonna WANT to and NEED to fill it up.

I need to control that urge and keep my cigar quota at 200 or 300max.

Now isn't storing singles vertically bad for the cigars? I like the idea of getting smaller trays that will fit at the bottom and stacking them. Will the ones from cheaphumidors.com work?

Post a WTB vicksburg in the forum. Maybe you'll get lucky like me. I think someone offered me a second after I found one.
