Any Teamo fans?

Way back when I was in college, and barely had a humidor going, I picked up a few smokes from a local B&M in Bryn Mawr, PA during a summer job.
He recommended a Teamo. I can't tell you which one it was, but I bought it in the summer of 1998 and it was probably a 6"x54.
Not a very good taste, and after a friend who road horses commented it smelled like a barn, it stuck in my head. Probably because it DID smell like a barn. Taste wasn't anything special, but again I smoked VERY infrequently and couldn't discern flavors like I am trying to now.
It was after this cigar that I stopped smoking them for about 8 years, with the occasional golf cigar if someone else brought them. Now I have multiple humi's, with a great appreciation for cigars and their flavors.

Anyone like these cigars? Should I give it a try again down the road? My local B&M doesn't sell them, just wanted to know if I gave it a raw deal my first time around.

Re: Any Teamo fans?

So I WAS right!

LOL.

Should have known if my local B&M Old Virginia Tobacco wouldn't carry it, they must not be worth it.

I've asked them about certain brands, and if they couldn't get consistent smokes out of what they purchased, they would drop that line. Gurkha for example, they only carry 2-3 lines, because of quality control.
One other brand they bought a box and it tasted like ash, so they dropped the line. I like to see that in a good B&M. Looking out for reputation and customer satisfaction.

I tried a few of these in the early 90's. They were pretty bad. I'm sure they've improved since then. They couldn't have gotten any worse I have similar feelings from my experience with Matacan cigars back then but, they too, could have improved

Re: Any Teamo fans?

The regular Te Amo is typical Mexican cigar, and not to most folks liking, including mine. However, the Te Amo Anniversario Vintage 1999 is actually quite good, probably because it isn't a Mexican puro. The filler has some Nicaraguan in it. I think these are all gone now, though. CI had them for a while, but they no longer list them.

You might want to try the Te Amo Cabinet Selection, which has a three-country filler (Dom., Mex., Brazilian). CI has them in stock.

Then again, if you want to give another Mexican brand a go, try either the Santa Clara 1830 Havana Selection (at JR) or the Getomi. The latter can be had here.

Cheers!

I have had a few, I'd rather buy something else.
