Greetings again fellow lovers of thy stogie. I've come to you on this day with another newbie-oriented question.
My absolute favorite, favorite, favorite cigar at the moment is the Gurkha Expedition (think of me what you will). It seems that the only place to get it is cigarsinternational.com - and sometimes they run a special, sometimes not. I've been trying to find a cigar out there that I'll enjoy as much as the Expedition with a similar flavor profile as my supply is running low, but one that's perhaps a little more available and perhaps lower in cost. I know, I know. The only thing I can think of to search by is the wrapper, which is Connecticut/Ecuador. I've been told the CAO Gold shares a similar wrapper, and I seem to enjoy that cigar as well but not as well as my precious, precious Expeditions. The question: I've had a hard time researching other cigars with a similar wrapper or characteristic as the Gurkha Expedition - can anyone help by listing some cigars that may do the trick for me? Any Expedition smokers out there? A thousand thank-you's in advance. |

Re: Connecticut / Ecuador?
What price point are you looking for? For what it is worth, I happen to be a fan of the Expedition.

Re: Connecticut / Ecuador?
You might want to look into the Famous Dominican series....particularly the 5000's. Check the description:

Re: Connecticut / Ecuador?
The Lot 23 by Perdomo is an Ecuadorian grown Connecticut wrapper (at least that's what they say on their site) And I love that cigar. A quality 4-6 buck cigar.

The Expedition is my current daily cigar, but at those prices my pocketbook is starting to silently whine, and I fear it's going to turn into a cry soon. |

Re: Connecticut / Ecuador?
Indian Tobac Ltd. Reserve...
This is from CI "If you haven’t sampled this cigar yet, do yourself a favor and pick up a bundle. It’s an every day best-seller and if you’re a mild cigar smoker, you’ll absolutely love it. Consistently well-constructed, smooth and mellow, offering ample flavor that holds your interest time after time. Forgive me if I can’t contain my excitement - but for this price it’s a remarkable deal. Made in Nestor Plasencia’s Honduran factory, each is draped in cedar, concealing a flawless, Connecticut-seed wrapper leaf underneath. This leaf is grown under Ecuador’s natural mountain mist, yielding an exceedingly smooth wrapper with an oily sheen. The long-fillers are aged 3 full years following cultivation. After sparking it, you’ll notice a distinctive, creamy, velvety-smooth taste, much milder and mellower than the characteristically heavy body that Indian Tabac cigars are known for. Cost? 65% off. Insanity. " http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...IIA&cat=3&h1=1 $50 for 25 Robusto's I really like the Super Fuerte Maduro's |

Re: Connecticut / Ecuador?
I would try to grab a fiver of the Carlos Torano Casa Torano, you can generally pick up a fiver for $15.00 or so at CBid. A tad milder than what I usually prefer, but for a mild cigar nicely complex and tasty.......At least to me

Re: Connecticut / Ecuador?
I just finished off a Expedition Robusto, I was inspired by this thread. I forgot how much I liked these; great construction, perfect draw, super white ash, think smoke and a medimum flavor...
Good call on the Casa Torano's; FYI Torano rolls for Gurkha. |
