Found this while searching to find out why it is so bad that people wear their hats indoors or while eating. It was a pretty interesting read. It also states that you should leave your hat on while indoors at a lunch counter eating.

From time to time. Ballcap or woven hat if golfing or doing the beach thing. A Fedora in the cold of winter.

Re: Taking cover.... Do you wear a hat?

I generally wear a Patriots Super Bowl ball cap or an old woodlands pattern bush hat when I am outside. My wife has lost it in the past when we were going out together to run errands and I have worn one of the faded and salt stained bush hats but I love them. I do have a beautiful Stetson that mostly stays blocked in its box.

As there is a cigar for every occasion, there is a hat...
My everyday hat is a Calcutta ball cap.
I like a floppy hat for fishing in the hot sun.
And a good straw hat for sitting around enjoying cold beer and a good cigar. (why carve a notch on the table when you can bend a bottle cap onto your hat)

Up to and including JFK, you would see our Presidents wearing hats at least to and from their inaugurations.

That hat is hand woven in Ecuador and probably a mesuem quality that is around 2000+ wpi and perfect color etc and would take a year to weave. Then its turned into a hat and depending on where you buy it at it would cost up to 30,000.00 for a single hat .

Here is not the same style but of similar weave count. We done this one from the movie " The Razors edge" :

While the weave count on this one is really good the back weave on the edge is not premium and thus reducing cost.

Interestinly enough its actually a myth about JFK. He actually wore and was photographed with a Topper at his inauguration but he did not wear it when he gave the speech. It remained on his chair.

He also owned and some times wore a fedora.

Part of the myth was due to Peters brothers in TX had made the Shady Oaks or a cowboy hat for all presidents up until JFK and he did not care for a western style hat.

This is an intersting hat as well. This felt was made in 1920 but the hat only last year. Its pure sterling beaver silverbelly and is not dyed but from mature beaver that makes it silver ish.

Great looking hats fellas. I do the ball cap, fitted of course, but worn straight and a slightly bent bill. Also have a few "excursion" hats(COlumbia Sports, Orvis, etc.). I have been looking into a few dress hats as well as some leather hats. Gotta have something that will last in the woods and water.

Re: Taking cover.... Do you wear a hat?

I wear a hat when I'm outside or when I'm working with power tools at work. I wear a ballcap most of the time, but I also have a couple of fedoras, several boonie hats, and an outback-style hat that I wear hunting. In the winter I wear a knit cap if its really cold.

I agree. I attend a few of the civil war reinactments and love to see the dress, especially hats. Alot of them use old fashioned materials and methods......and they swear by the hats. May have to swap a muzzleloader for a hat and be done with it.

Re: Taking cover.... Do you wear a hat?

I stopped wearing hats when my hair got curly, sometime in middle school.
