Metalheads Unite!

I have met a couple people here with my taste in music but was just wondering how many more there actually is. So if the word metal makes you think of music before steel or aluminum then let me hear what some of favorite bands are...

Some of mine are...

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Opeth
Dark Tranquility
Iced Earth
Gamma Ray
Testament
Slayer
Primal Fear
Slough Feg

I could go on for quite a while but I think that's good

Ahhhh Symphony X. I was never really a fan...until their last album (Paradise Lost). What a complete ass kicker of an album. A lot heavier than their previous works and the riffs just go on for days. Especially this song....

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=14707266

Damn that riff just sticks in your head from the first listen...

I swear Motorhead is getting better with age. For a long time I thought of them the same as AC/DC...pretty much staying with the same winning formula that has always worked but man the last two albums had me rethink that stance. IMHO the best two albums they have done since Ace of Spades.

Dokken was far and away my favorite LA band of that era and IMO they are metal. Wether they are actual metal is a argument we have had at the website I write for quite some time. My opinion is simply when I first heard them they were considered metal. Just because there is stuff that has come out that is way heavier doesn't diminish how metal their stuff was at the time. I mean songs like Bullets to Spare, When Heaven Comes Down, Till the Livin' End or Standing in the Shadows can't be considered anything but Metal.

I certainly agree with the Metallica statement. It still amazes me how bad that band has gotten from such a lofty beginning. Master of Puppets is still to this day the best thrash metal album ever and for them to release the crap they are coming out with now feels like a insult. I am probably just bitter because I had a Metallica tattoo that had to be covered up after their fall from grace.
