Wisdom teeth suck:( Read my tragedy.

No it's not the Godfather in that picture, it is I, after my dentist had a wrestling match trying to pull out my deep rooted teeth. All four wisdoms, with local anesthetic. Not only was I in pain that only codeine could ease, but I have been seperated from my humidor in two ways! Not only can I not smoke for a few weeks, but the PSD4s I had in my shopping cart had to go back on the shelf because my dental billz are at $700 so far (still a bit more to go). That's with dental insurance ! At least thanx to MocoBird I'll have some aged (5 y.o.) Padroniez to smoke as soon as I'm healed. What an awesome guy, thanx Gary. This board has so many remarkable people, I am very glad to be a part of it. Can't wait to smoke a stick again, so I can share my experience with you guys. Well I guess I'm off to baby myself Night guys.

I'm still deciding on how to attack your mail box Gary, I suggest you put some teflon around it.

Well Don, to me you look better, more weight , keep up the good work. Oh, hate to tell you, but you look like you got a lot of bananas stuffed in them jows P.S. I had this done twenty years ago, " don't smoke ", it will get infected and then you'll be without smokes for months. Good luck healing.

WOW!!! I voted for "The Godfather" but I'm glad you find some humor in this as I can only imagine this can't be much fun

I'm lucky, my wisdom teeth all cam in fine when I was in my late teens and I've never had a filing in my life until just a few months ago (I'm 43) and it was on one of my wisdom teeth. I was very happy that my dentist didn't say "Sorry Bill, I've gotta pull 'em" since they are prone to decay, that's one of the reason some dentists choose to extract them.

I wish you a speedy recovery. I'd probably go nuts if I couldn't smoke cigars for a few weeks

Yea when it comes to moments like this in life all you can do is laff I'm feeling a lot better today, and I think I should be good by the end of next week. Thanx for the replies.

The removal of wisdom teeth truly suck! Two years ago I had three removed at one time. Cost $750 and I didn't have insurance. Had to pay it all myself. I was put under though, so there really wasn't too much pain except for the first night.

How do you know you need to have a dentist pull your wisdom teeth? Mine are making an appearance but I'm not in any pain or anything. I had sore gums for about a day and that's it.

Could you give us one with the shades on. I've really been kind of digging on the shades, man! No worry's! The "Padroniez" are just kicking it. I figure we give them another week or two and they should be right on!

Wisdom teeth are notorious for causing problems, here are just a couple.

When impacted (like mine check out that pic! - That was under my gum) - They can disalign all your other teeth.

When partially erupted - Gum covers some of the tooth where some of the tooth is on the surface (I also had one like that), food particles can get trapped and cause inflamation and infection.

I had no pain, but I knew my teeth were going to cause me problems if I didn't get rid of them. Since I had to remove two (maybe three), I decided to just pull all four and save myself the trouble of having another operation. Hope that helps. Also to mocobird, do I sense sarcasm in your voice regarding my shades LOL the ones I have on in my ave pic are gag 70's shades. I call em fly eyes.

When I had been dating my wife for a couple of months, it came time to meet her parents. They lived 5 hours away from us so we went for the weekend. The only problem was, I had all four wisdom teeth out 48 hours earlier.
So I walk in the door, "hi Mr and Mrs" etc etc. Probably mention the wisdom teeth briefly since I look a little funny.
Then we sit down for dinner and they've made this awesome filet mignon with a nice red wine.
I did actually manage to eat most of it, I just took about twice as long as anyone else, chewing very slowly.

The next morning, one of the stitches had come loose a bit, so about an inch of thread was hanging down loose. It would get stuck on the back of my throat and make me gag. Had to borrow some scissors to shove down the back of my mouth and get the string.

Despite all that, the weekend went well

that's pretty young, usually they don't come out until around 18-25
