Going to grow my own!!! (tobacco)
I ordered a few different kinds of broadleaf seeds today and have been reading the threads from other growers. I will be starting them as soon as they arrive. I will post pics and updates when they start sprouting. I need to find some info as far as curing and aging. Wish me luck!!!

Good luck - an interesting endeavour. I must say i've always been interested in growing tobacco, though the growing always seems just the beginning, then theres drying, curing, rolling etc for cigars. What's your plans once you have the leaves - pipe, cigar, cigarettes?

btw is your avatar Hunter S (or perhaps Johnny Depp portraying him?) - its a cool photo.

Also, forgot to ask, but what sort of conditions have you prepared - are you planting in furrows or just scattering?

Small update!!!!


Here is a pic of the starter trays (ice cube trays) each with different seeds in them. I am growing 5 different strains of this. I will update as I go!!!

Found this interesting link the other day about an e-book you can buy about growing your own tobacco for fun and profit. "The Cultivator's Handbook of Native, Natural Tobacco" is written by a guy who has written a number books about cultivating other natural herbs...

Aren't tobacco seeds expensive?? Not that Cigars are cheap either!

I saw some Cigar drying boxes on ebay the other day for a hella good price!
