World Community Grid Project
I was involved in the grid.org computing project for several years. Their premise was to use the idle cpu time of millions of computers to compute data to cure cancer and other important projects. That project is finished and I started a new one here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ . I took the liberty of starting a Club Stogie team so that we might work together to work on their important projects including a cure for AIDS. It's quite easy to do and my experience is that running the program has never done any damage to any of my computers. After you download the program, you can join the Club Stogie team here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=5ZSBN2FBS1
I think it would be fun to see how many BOTLs we can get together on the team and track our progress. Thanks! MCS |

Re: World Community Grid Project
Instead of a cure for AIDS, I think we should research a cure for cancer, like mouth, or lung cancer. a little irony there.

Re: World Community Grid Project
Do you see anything on the screen while this is working? I recall seeing one that showed some of the computations that happened to be going on at the time.

I am part of the folding at home I have my two I macs, mac pro (two quad cores), and my ps3 all doing computations. It is a great way to become a scientist in a not so real way

Re: World Community Grid Project
I was reading an interseting article about grid computing becoming a commidity. And that you will be able to sell your CPU time. This isn't surpising considing the amount of money spam and botnet owners are making. Which is pretty much the same thing anyway.
