Golf and the Masters

I've been away for a while but I've got the urge to talk golf so here we go.

Anyone out there watching the Masters. I love watching this Tourny every year. It never dissapoints and looks like this year is no exception. Looks to me like Tiger is back on top of his game. I don't think Demarco can hold him off if they get paired together in the final round. Who do you like, and what do you think of all the hype about the big 4. Personally I think it should be the big 5 and include Goosen.

On another note whats with Vijay playing head games in the middle of the tourney. He asks for Mickelsons spikes to be checked and earlier asked for Tigers driver to be checked. I've alway's thought Vijay was under appreciated as the words #1 player but I can't respect the head games. It doesn't really seam to be in the spirit of the game. I have to admit though, Phil does leave a lot of spike marks given his metal spikes and all the extra practice puts he takes around the hole.

Re: Golf and the Masters

Nice to see another avid golfer on here. I've been so busy I haven't had time to watch much of the Masters but have kept up with the leader board. Tiger had a rough first day but looks like he's in position to make a run.

As far as Vijay goes, I lost respect for him when he was caught cheating years ago in a foreign tourney, he changed his score card and turned in a lower score!!!

I played this afternoon with my 9yr old son. We got in 9 holes before it got dark. Have my tee time set for 9:30 tomorrow morning though.

Yep, he'll always be a cheater in my book.

I think that if Tiger keeps up the momentum he had going today, he'll be tough to beat--it's all on DiMarco's shoulders though.

Anyway, I've got an 8:30 tee time tomorrow so I should be coming off the course just in time to catch the beginning of the third round

Re: Golf and the Masters

You guy's are killing me with the tee times. I'm an ex avid golfer, but between our young son and work I barely get time to play anymore. I'll have to settle for a couple hours of Masters coverage on T.V. before work then tape the rest.

As for Vijay I think I heard something about him grounding his club in a trap a few years ago. Although I still have to give him credit for being number one in the world and still playing all the tournaments. Not like the other top players that play a short schedule so the smaller tournaments never get to see the top players.

Re: Golf and the Masters

I agree about the Vijay thing.....the head games have no place at this level of competition. All he had to do was politely ask that Mickleson repair the marks a bit better after putting out. He didn't have to involve a rules official and make the whole issue a spectacle.

In regards to the current leader:

I don't really care for Tiger's theatrics on the course, and he's not one of my favorite players....but damn, you gotta respect the run he's made to the top at this tournament. I really think he'll win it, although I was rooting for Mickleson to be a repeat winner.

I played golf on Thursday....only the second time this year. Unfortunately, I didn't do so well. I would up with an 85, on a difficult course. Better luck next time, I guess!!

Re: Golf and the Masters

I've watched almost all of the coverage. Tiger has really been bery quite about getting his lead. Pulling off 4 birdies to end his 3rd round! Making that 7 in a row going back to the second round!

I'm not a fan of fish-face, but he will be tough to beat! As I type he is walking to the tee box.

He will never eclipse the Golden Bear!

Re: Golf and the Masters

Tiger's my man... but I have no problem if DeMarco pulls it out... seems to be a good guy and he certainly has paid his dues the last few years at the Masters and it would be well-deserved win.

Had not heard of Vijay's cheating episode a few years ago but doesn't change my opinion of him... didn't care for him anyway. He seems to be the second biggest whinner on tour... right behind Sergio (I really don't care for any of the Spainairds).

Never been a big Mickelson fan either... STAND ON THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE BALL!!!! LOL!!!!!

Would love to see the Big Easy win the Masters but he always seems to struggle there. Maybe some day.

Re: Golf and the Masters

I gotta agree about Tiger's episodes but you gotta like to passion and respect his talent. For the same reason I gotta dissagree about the spaniards. Sergio, Jose, and especially Seve all play with a ton of passion which is a lot more fun to watch then the drones where usually see here on the PGA tour. Being Canadian I love to chear for Mike Weir but he's a perfect example of a PGA drone that play's with no emotion's.

I agree with the playing with passion but the Spaniards all whine... mental determination combined with the physical talent is more fun to watch in my opinion.

Good for Tiger, congrats to the little suck. To bad for Dimarco though. Would have been nice to see him win.

Re: Golf and the Masters

Well, we played 27 holes today and finished just in time to watch the last 9 of the masters and the playoff hole.

Was that a great chip by tiger on 16 or what!!! Has to be one of the best shots I"ve ever seen!!! But then Tiger chokes the last two holes to go into a playoff but pulled it out anyway. I like Tiger but I like most of the players thought, I think the press shows so much of Tiger it makes it easy to hate him.

Hey Jorgie, I've got 3 kids (9, 3 and 9 mos) plus I"m coaching girls highschool track, Little League baseball and cub scout leader so I know what it's like not having much time to play!!! I make time to play on weekends between or after practice's. I only live about 2 miles from my country club so it's easy for me to drop by and play a few holes and my oldest son loves to play so that gives me another excuse too.
