Unhappy Bill Maas, Glocks, and airport security.

Soooooo ........ of all the things that are a great big no-no to try and pass through security at the airport these days .... a loaded Glock ain't one of them.

And here I am, wondering what toiletires I can fit into a quart-sized ziplock bag, for my trip to Miami Beach.

-----------------

"Missouri law currently makes it impossible to prosecute someone who tries to carry a gun on a plane unless that person was going to commit a crime. I first asked the legislature to fix this loophole in 2004, and I hope lawmakers will change the law soon," said Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd.

What the hell.

I'm with you Doug, I am worried about putting a can of aerosol shaving cream in my bag, and people can carry guns on planes. What the hell.

They didn't let him carry it on .... there are just no reprocussions for trying to.

Not meaning to parse every word, but I don't think he tried to take a gun on the plane. I bet he just forgot it was in the bag.
There should be some penalty though.
I work in some Nuke power plants. There was a similar event where a employee used the same bag for work and home. He forgot a pistol in his bag, and then went to work, at the Nuke power plant, with this bag.
They fired him.

I agree ... maybe a bad choice of words on my part, but I do think that there are some things that "I forgot" hardly works on ...... loaded Glocks in your carry on luggage is one of them....lol.

Well he can still be prosecuted under federal law- I'm guessing they will.

Beat me to it, although traditionally the feds will defer to local authorities for this.

so what? is this guy a Criminal?

I would not mind seeing Every Passenger on a plane who is allowed to carry a firearm carry one. Michigan "allows" me the "right" to carry a firearm, If North West Airlines does not mind or the state i am flying into why should i not be able to carry on the plane?

A shoot out on a plane is not going to happen at Cruising altitude because the person did not get his bag of Flight Peanuts.

They let people onto planes. People are a lot more dangerous than a gun ever thought of being. Every gun that I've known has been extremely respectful, obedient, and never uttered nor thought a harmful word. Its the people that scare me.

Maybe ? ... I guess he's not convcted yet. ( http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...aas.arrest.ap/ )

(shrug) I have a hard time seeing someone responcible with a firearm, if they tend to "forget" that they even have it on them in the first place.

There's a lot of things that happen in this world, that I wouldn't believe would happen untill I read it in the news. I'm all for concealed carry with a permit & training & background check. But on an airliner ? .. No. Too easy to take out the plane if the gunman is willing to die, themselves.
Not trying to start an arguement ... just a couple of for all it's worth.

Re: Bill Maas, Glocks, and airport security.

Do you see mass shoot because of road rage? no its not going to happen in the air either.

I carry just about every day and the truth is you do forget you even have the gun their at times, its just like putting a cell phone in your pocket or ya watch on. It part of your day to day Activities.

By the looks of it maybe we have to question this specific case of Bill Maas carrying a firearm. Once the questions started about carrying on a plane in general the large picture need to be locked at and makes me ask "well why not?"

If someone wants to take the plane with a gun and three other passengers also have firearms whos gona win? the person willing to die to take down a plane or the people who want to keep theirs? There are more good people willing to sacrifice their life so you can keep yours then the "bad guys" The Government can not effectively protect you nore should it, we need to re-learn how to protect ourselves.
