Quitting cigarettes was easy...I did it lots of times.
I had a fool-proof plan...just don't buy any.

Haven't had one one for over thirty years.

Marked one year on Oct. 1. Quitnet.com reports for me:

Cigarettes not smoked: 5541
Money saved: $1,231.54

That's a big bump to the cigar budget

That's great news! Glad you stuck with it, too!!!

Huh ... I never did the math. Counting what I smoked daily (about 10 smokes) plus bumps for the weekends and traveling (where I'd jump to 20-30/day), I probably saved about $1,000.

Where are my other quitting brothers? Who else held on for the long haul???

Re: Time to Quit Smoking--Who's With Me?!?!?

It's been 3 days since my last cigarette. I've been smoking for about 12 years now, and this is my first attempt at quitting. My question for those that have quit is, when does it start to get better? How long did it take you to lose most of your cravings? I understand that this is going to be a long process, but I'm ready for it to be over already .

I tried quitting at the beginning of the school year, but there's a lotta stress in my life right now, so I'm averaging 1/2-1 pack a day now... Marlboro's be expensive as she-ite!

I still get cravings all the time, even after more than a year. They're mainly random, like while driving or having a few beers, and are much easier to ignore now than they were the first month cig-free.

That entire first month I stayed away from things that historically made me want to smoke: coffee, alcohol, long drives (sunflower seeds worked great for that). Then it started getting easier and I could have a cup of coffee without instantly wanting a smoke.

Good luck!

I still get random cravings, too. Like the other week, I was getting ready to give a public lecture and found myself feeling my pocket for my pack.

The first month is the worst; but I doubt the cravings ever go away. Just tellin' it to ya straight.

GOOD LUCK!!!
