Joined a local gym today, too, and I'm psyched about it, and finally kicking the cig habit. Hopefully it will be a life-changing path ... and all because of a friendly forum on the Internets.

I'm definitely going to TRY this. I was thinking about using the patch, or gum, since cold turkey never works for me, but then again, I've never had a support group. Hopefully this will finally be the time that I'm able to quit for good. Otherwise, I quit trying to quit. Brb, going for a smoke break now!

Good luck to all on the quit list. This sounds lame, but my quit date is Monday December 3rd (post European Holiday). So if the support group is still around I'll be looking to join it then.

The Healthy eating phase has already started since I found out at my last physical my cholesterol is 299 (HDL undeteremined) and triglycerides are 473. In the past 2 weeks I've cut out red meat/fatty meats and anything with trans/saturated fats, sodas (used to drink about 3 cokes a day).

The exercise needs to kick in soon. But I'm with you guys.. just not yet on the cigarettes. I'm a 1/2 to 1 pack a day smoker.

Good luck Boy's I quit chewing tobacco one day on the baseball field at St. Bernard high, summer league 1984 ( not like I recall it or anything) I went home tossed all the case's I had frozen at home out and have never looked back. I can STILL taste it when I start teaching it in health class or talking about it....I really enjoyed it..Be strong hang in there

Good work Elvis.. eventually it will get easier. I've quit before.. for about 6 months, but I used the patch then.. never cold turkey

I started going to the gym on a daily basis last Thursday. I feel like I got hit by a truck. I may be up for the quitting smoking. I will have to see how I feel about it. I would hate to fail in front everyone.
