Nissan Titan vs Kawasaki ZX-10...
Well, we know who would win...right?
I had a new rider...2 months...change lanes and hit me in the rear passenger door. He's ok, of course I'm ok, but my truck and his bike aren't. Truck has a significant gouge from the rear passenger door to the end of the bed, not to mention several other scratches. His bike, brand new ZX-10, lost all its fluids and tore up the fairings on the right side. Like I said, he's ok and since I ride too, I was REALLY worried about him in the beginning. After I found out he was ok, I wanted to strangle him!!! Now to contact insurance and get all this fixed!! Thanks for listening and enjoy your day.

Re: Nissan Titan vs Kawasaki ZX-10...
Yea, new riders should probably start out on a ZX-10. And we wonder why insurance rates are so high for sportbikes
. Sorry to hear about your truck though. My brother in law has a Titan and I really like it.

Re: Nissan Titan vs Kawasaki ZX-10...
I love my Titan...especially now that is dry once again...
![]() I was however thinking of buying a motorcycle over the winter to drive back and forth to work next spring and summer. I will however stay awa from sportbikes...I think a used late 80's Vulcan or Shadow will do the trick. Should be able to find those pretty damn cheap... |

Glad you're OK and glad he's OK. Hopefully he learned a lesson.

It always amazes me when I see stories about newbies buying (and usually wrecking) liter bikes (or really any R-type bike). Glad to hear everybody ended up ok though.

Re: Nissan Titan vs Kawasaki ZX-10...
Sorry to hear about your truck. Seriously, whats a new rider doing riding a ZX-10? Better yet, whats a new rider doing buying a brand new bike? I always tell people who are looking to start riding to by a used bike until they build up their skills.

Re: Nissan Titan vs Kawasaki ZX-10...
Glad to hear both people are okay, sucks about the truck damage. It pains my heart to hear about a new ZX-10 wadded up. I've owned my 04 ZX-10 since I picked up off the showroom floor in July 2004. It's the best bike I've owned.
Chances are this guy won't be riding another ZX-10. I think he just learned a valuable lesson in insurance rates going up as well as plastic on these bikes are not cheap. I agree with all that's been said about new riders on shiny new sportbikes. |

Re: Nissan Titan vs Kawasaki ZX-10...
Glad everyone is OK. That is what is important, all else can be fixed or replaced.
The valuable lesson will be learned when/if the motorcycle shop gives him a comprehensive list that breaks down the price of the parts that are damaged on his bike. Odds are that his rates are so high already that there isn’t much room to go higher. I have been involved in a couple of motorcycle vs. larger vehicle crashes, both times I was the motorcycle, and neither time was it my fault, so I can’t vouch for how the rates will be effected, mine weren’t and I have fairly low rates, considering what I ride. But the reason for my post was that I found something out from my experiences. If you get a chance look at the cost of repairs to the bike, odds are it is totaled, so they will pay much less that the cost to repair, I mean the actual cost to repair. You will be surprised, and it’ll take your mind of the damages to your truck. For instance it cost about $6,000 less to repair my truck when it was hit, and the frame had to be replaced, than it would have to fix my motorcycle after a similar head on. And the frame on my bike was actually $500 more than the frame for my truck. The above has been another installment of the useless facts that fill most of the 10% of useful space in my brain. I now return you to the thread. |
