If she plans to issue an 18 year bond, she essentially locks away $20,000,000,000 per year that is taken from the American taxpayer to pay for these government bonds. This money, earmarked for "the children" can then be bastardized like social security to pay for a whole flock of new programs, from Hillary Care to government paid toenail clipping....you name it, gub'min will come save the day for you. Each one of these programs will buy more and more votes.

Why the hell do you think she didn't just say a $5k tax credit for children? She doesn't give a rat's ass about the kids, she wants to get elected and keep the power and money with the government. I'm sure to many out there, the baby bonds sound like an incredibly warm and tingly program, but ask yourself why not give it in cash as a refund of what we have already paid? Why create further debt to our government through the interest? And how the hell would you feel if your tax refund came in the form of a bond instead of cash because the government doesn't trust you to properly save/spend it on your own.

True. Such is life, but to infer that everyone can achieve based off of merits and effort alone is a fallacy. Many factors can be barriers to attending college for individuals who to have your "qualifications". BTW, why do you assume that everyone afforded the opportunity to go to college would (this is reference to your welder comment)?

Had I based it on people who do not want to go to college, there would be nothing to discuss. The merit based scholarship has no place, the government sponsored education system has no place, there is no discussion. Hilary thinks the government should screw you by taking money out of our pockets and use the money to pay others to screw.

Why the fack can't these people consider LOWERING FRICKIN TAXES and quit pissing money away on BS programs like this? It's not like this would be any different than half the stupid crap they waste money on anyhow, but expanding the stupid waste is just idiotic. What I was trying to clarify is your point about "somebody having to be a welder or plumber, etc." To me, that sounds like you are trying to connect that if this program were to occur that everyone would go to college leaving no one to do those particular jobs. My point was that not all who would be given this opportunity would take it, let alone that I disagree with the premise that all of those jobs are held by people who do not attend college.

Out of curiosity, would you change you mind if the tax was put into a private fund in the name of the child that could not be touched by the parents or government? The only way it could be utilized is by the child attending a college, trade school etc.? The funds not used by people who chose not to attend would roll over to another child born?

Using that argument, one could say since you did not pay for a service in another city via a local tax, you would not be allowed to use that service. On the other hand, one could hypothesize that a child using this tax could get a degree in something that would allow them to provide a service that would benefit the general population, couldn't they?
