About all I could find in a quick search was here...

http://www.burfish.com/catalog/ud25.html

It's approx. 1/2 way down the page. It's called the "hook remover and first aid kit". Looks a bit cheesy to me though.

Thanks!

That one looks like it would hurt like hell

The one I saw had a cutter to cut the barb off the hook then a tool to push it threw.

I guess if you drink enough whiskey you won't feel it getting ripped out of your hand

Save the eight bucks and simply use a segment of fishing line or spyder wire. The only diff between the eight dollar product and a section of fishing line is the piece of plastic covering the mono line. A shallow hook can be removed but A deep set hook is best taken out by medical staff.

Do those things work?
Only thing I've fused is a pair of snub-nosed pliers to first cut the eye off and then to push the hook through and out again.
And yeah, I've done it more than once.

I'm no fisherman - but isn't the hook suppose to go into the bait and not your skin? Apparently not if they sell special removal tools -

Re: Question for the fishermen......

Ya,like stated above, fishing line will do the trick along with some wire cutter,no matter what you have to push the barb through in a deep hook. Saw a guy put a 6/0 through his thump on my last tuna fishing trip. had to push through then cut, then pull. Sucks!

I remember when I was a kid I went to cast a Lucky 13 and I turn around and it's hanging off my Mom's ear.

Oh man I haven't thought about that in 30 some years!

Re: Question for the fishermen......

This is what I have always heard (thankfully never had to do it though!) I have cut a couple of barbs off and push the hook through though.

Somewhere I have a clip of some studs out shark fishing in kayaks off of California and a fellow managed to get hooked by someone else's 6 O shark hook in the cleft of the chin. OUCH!!! The ended up using a titanium bolt cutter (on some nice fishing pliers) to finally cut the barb and shank free then pushed it out. It would have required a LOT of alcohol in my case though (probably a "case") I may have to see if I can find that clip someday.

Re: Question for the fishermen......

I tie with barbless hooks or pinch all barbs down on my flies. If I fished with lures (generally bigger hooks) I'd get the Dremel out and remove the barbs. It just a fish, for cryin' out loud. You've caught a bunch of them, you'll catch a bunch more. What difference does it make if a few get off?

I'd rather loose a fish than use the pliers or the "fishing line" method to remove a hook from ME! A few years ago, I was taking a fish my buddy caught out of his net, the hook came loose and lodged in my finger. It was a size 22 but it still hurt. My other buddy used me as the "teaching dummy" to show the rest of our friends how to use the fishing line method. It hurt like the dickens!! I didn't think it worked all that well
