I look at CS as I do my local cigar shop, everything and just about everything is discussed over a cigar and a cup of coffee and a particular subject isn't banned because someone dosen't care to involve themselves in the discussion. In five minutes or so the subject changes. We in CS can simply go to a diffrent thread if we don't care to participate in a thread regardless of the subject.
Very true. But if the conversation get's too heated and/or personally abusive, the owner of the store does not infringe on your right to free speech by asking you to tone it down or leave.

I don't want to stir the pot, but I also think this needs to be clarified. You've already seen my view, so you're aware I have no problem at all regarding political threads. However, we all need to remember something.

We have no 'rights' in a private venue. The concept of rights to free speech are simply prohibitions on what the government can't do to limit our freedom. However this is a PRIVATE forum. The owner of this bulletin board has the rights, we have none. It is up to the owner to define the tone and set the standards of behavior in this online community.

Think of it this way. I have no RIGHT to use foul language in your living room when I'm a guest in your hose, but you DO have the RIGHT to kick my a$$ out into the street if I don't abide by your rules. The government has nothing to do with it... you're the government in your own home.

Carry on.

I most certainly agree, there is no reason for anyone to resort to personal attacks, insulting language ect... But when its the norm to be able to discuss whats on you mind be it cigars or anything else where is the harm.

Very true and those standards of behavior were made clear upon joining the club. All I'm saying is that the areas are established and haven't changed and I havent seen any name calling or threats of violance because of a particular subject. We all have the choice to envolve ourselves in what ever thread we care to join in or create one in the appropriate area.

Perfect way to end this and makes the point the thread was posted to make in the first place.
