I'm a new guy, dutifully pouring over pages and pages of wonderful cigar info on these boards.
There really is a ton of wonderful info here, and I find myself spending a surprising amount of time reading through old and new threads alike.

After a while, I wondered how many of you fine fellows used a straight razor during your morning (or evening ) ritual...
I thought there might be a positive correlation here between lovers of the long tobacco and those that enjoy a traditional wetshave.

Also, broaching the topic allows me to maybe get to know some of you just a wee bit better.

I don't mind telling you, I enjoy the straight shave. Usually it's w/ a Fridour 8/8 razor of one of my Dubl Ducks.
A Rooney badger hair brush and Mitchell's Woolfat soap are a mainstay of my bathroom counter.

How about you?
If you wetshave, but use a DE rather than a straight, I understand. I still have a ton of old Gillettes from my DE days too, before I made the switch.

I was just wondering.

I find straight shaving to be very relaxing, like a little zen ritual.
It's all about the focus (otherwise you might cut your own head clean off!).

Welcome to the jungle. I use a mach 3 on my face and head, but I do have a couple of straight razors from grandma. They were her grandfathers. He was a barber in Germany, and brought them to America with him.

I do not use a straight razor, but a safety razor. It is just a totally different shave. It also helped me fight razor burn after I used to them.

There is a barbershop that I'll occasionally go to that gives you a shave with a straight razor. I enjoy it very much and it is very relaxing. Doing it myself however...

Same deal here...I go about once a month to have it professionally done. I'm afraid I'd hack the crap outta myself.

I am about to "lend" myself to a friend of my daughter's - she is going to hairdressing school and they are learning the straight razor now. I guess if she can shave a balloon without popping it I should be safe....right?
