Darned if you do, darned if you don't

Well, the "city father's" of my old home town of 35 years (all of those citizens who stood to cash in on the influx of workers for the Tyson packing plant) always said we should "embrace" our new residents of 4,000-5,000 packing plant workers into the town of 7,500.

If you didn't embrace the new residents, you were a no good, racist pig. Now, when a teacher goes and does some first class "embracing" , the ice cream hits the fan. Geeze. She was just thinking "of the children."

Bob, there are lots of things we "need" to embrace, beginning with corporate influence and labor surplus. Nothing like a little surplus labor to keep wages down.

Well, the kid may or may not have been 13 years old. Many from "down south" do not have birth certificates. I had a good friend who was involved with the school that said he knew there were kids older than 18 in school but there was no way to prove it. They were not what you would call "model students".

According to the local paper, the kid was old enough to be a "gang banger", anyway. Of course, I guess they do start recruiting at a young age.

Well, I think keeping wages down is a very good thing, right? (as long as it doesn't affect MY wages) ("insert smarta** icon here.)
