LCD Monitor woes -

Yesterday we had an area wide power outage. I get home and go to restart my computers - server and all start up fine except for my main one. I run dual monitors on it and the ViewSonic VX900 LCD would not come back up. The indicator on the front started blinking "rapidly" - not like a normal loss of signal blink.

Plugged it into another computer - same deal. Changed cables - same thing. In addition - one port on my Video Card (DVI) side would not work. So - had to pick up a new video card and monitor today. It's a nice monitor - another ViewSonic - 22" widescreen HD VX2235 LCD - pretty nice.

Anyway - anyone familiar with the trouble code of the rapid blinking yellow light? Do I just need to toss it? It's about 8 years old so no warranty or anything.

Short of trying a different signal cable if you have one handy, I think it's time to set that monitor on the curb. There's not much you can replace to get them running again.

8 years is a great life span for a monitor in my opinion.

Yep, I was guessing it's just time to toss it Ji - but it kinda pisses you off when you leave the house and it's working fine and then screwed when you get home.

I did try a different cable and also tried the analog side. It does the rapid blinking with and without cables attached.

Thanks -

Ron

I hear what you're saying.... No one wants to lose a piece of equipment especially one that's been working so well for so long...

But then there are some really cool LCD panels out there now.
