I like how it can check for intonation as well..............very cool.

The system that is on Page's guitar is made by a company called Transperformance.

Looks nifty, practical, and is a heckuvalot more discreet than the Transperformance system. The only questions I have left pertain to Gibson's marketing. Why would they throw that on an LP Studio body with just that kind of off-the-wall blueburst? The whole thing reminds me a bit to much of this:

http://www.gibson.com/DigitalGuitarN...onDigital.html

Does anyone remember when this came out? All kinds of hoopla and trumpets sounding, and three months later no one even realized they had heard of it. Hopefully with this tuning thing (which is frankly a lot more practical than the digital guitar) Gibson will realize after the initial run that they could sell a lot more if the electronics were offered on a sunburst Standard, black Custom, etc. etc. etc.

I predict that there will be only one production run of the guitar. I just don't see it being anything more than a novelty. Sure, its cool, but for the price you could by a whole ensemble of guitars and a tuner.

That said, if I had million dollar trust fund, I'd get it.

Tronical are intending to release their system to put on a Les Paul to be able to buy in the shops. You can buy the system for a Strat right now, and it doesn't require you to drill any holes in the guitar.

I really don't see this taking off in any way. It's pretty innovative and cool, but it would be a huge pain to mess with live and probably takes a great deal of time to tune and all that.

If you are going from normal E tuning to Drop D, its just as quick as if you changed tuning conventionally, however, if you wanted to go from Standard to Open G, for example, it takes about ten to fifteen seconds, so its a lot quicker than tuning conventionally.
