Dad's B-17 Ride

For all WWII aviation buffs........this is the ultimate !! My dad finally had the chance to get a ride on a B-17 a couple of weeks ago. They finally came over last night and brought the pics from the ride. He said it was the most amazing 30 minute ride.......and loud.

That pic makes him look way older than he is.....he only turned 60 this year, he did serve Air Force during Vietnam. I thanked him last night

Re: Dad's B-17 Ride

My dream would be to take a ride in one of the P-51 Mustang 2 seat trainers. I have flown in combat jet trainers but would love my favorite plane. I know how your father felt. I am a private pilot and the P-51 is an itch that I cannot scratch. Glad that he enoyed the flight Andy.

Re: Dad's B-17 Ride

Those pictures are great! My grandfather spent some time as a waist gunner on a B-24 in the middle of WWII, I imagine it looked an awful lot like that. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Dad's B-17 Ride

My dad and I went and saw one of these that was on a tour at the airport here about 6 months ago. He wanted to ride in it so badly, but the spots were all filled up... I already plan to buy his ride for his birthday next year when the B-17 comes back around. The only problem is finding something equally nice for my mom's birthday so she doesn't get jealous

Re: Dad's B-17 Ride

A friend of mine has flown on virtually all of the domestic flying B-17s, including the Nine-O-Nine.

They look beautiful and sound even better....
