Another model thread

The driller on the last two wells I worked has an interesting hobby. Over a 23 year period, he made a functional, model drilling rig. Until recently he had no Dremel, lathe or mill. He bought a Dremel and made his own lathe. Most of the model was made entirely by hand. He used acetelene torch "cleaners" as drills for hinge pins.

The rig is fully operational. In fact, much to the chagrin of his wife, he drilled a hole in the floor and cased it. I think the casing ended up being over the washer and dryer in the basement. "By golly, I think we hit soap suds!"

Here's a few pictures of some of the well parts with a pen incluced for scale. These tools are used to handle the drill string, i.e. capturing the drill pipe so it doesn't fall down the hole and tightening or loosening the individual drill stems.
