Snowy weather here tonight

We are supposed to get about an inch and then have it turn over to rain. Just in case I made sure that the snow blower was working and put the plow on the truck. Still have to get more gas for the blower.

When I started hearing news reports of what a mess it was outside Chicago I cancelled my plans for the day and drove home. Went from snow to sleet and everything was soon covered in a sheet of ice. No power lost, fortunately.

Now it's just raining outside and the temp's slowly dropping. Glad I'm not gonna be out in that!

We only got about an inch in the north coastal area of MA but about 2 miles inland they got hit pretty well judging from the school closings and delays. I am probably one of the few who does not envy the Florida crew. Lived in the Beaufort, SC area for a little over 4 years and missed the change in seasons. Have a good day all.

Well, we ended up with a little over 10 inches and its still snowing However, its lake effect snow now and not the storm that went through.

We got just about 2" of the fluffy white stuff in North Jersey (just outside NYC).

The wife and I normally go cut down our Christmas tree the weekend following Thanksgiving, so we had to venture our in the snow, but the roads we not bad at all. We got our tree...and returned home. Once home, and everything unpacked and put away, I relaxed on the deck all bundled up with a RP vintage 1992 and got to look more closely at natures winter creation. I love snow storms.

Our forecast said 35 and "Ice Pellets". I was already trying to weasel out of my plans fro Saturday. It turned out to be about 60 and drizzly. Looks like we dodged a bullet.

As a Florida girl transplanted in the Land of Oz, let me just express my absolute abhorrance for that cold white fluffy stuff. Been here 7 1/2 years and the cold still sucks.

Out here in Oregon, we are in the middle of a fairly strong wind and rain event. On the coast, winds are presently gusting to 125mph. Two counties are completely without power and flooding is cutting major coastal roads. In by Portland, where I am, the gusts at my house are just below 50mph. The sustained winds have taken out many cell phone and amateur radio towers and we are presently coordinating relief efforts on the military amateur radio service (MARS) and the regular ARES (amateur radio emergency services). The rain gauge up the hill from me had 2.55 inches as of 6pm yesterday. We've had almost that much since then as well.

This storm seems to be tracking to hit the midwest in a couple of days. Hold on to your hats!

It sounds like the Red Cross is mobilized state-wide now and the emergency radio networks for all of western Oregon are now active.
