I knew it!

My next LT will be a Mac. We just helped on of our sons purchase one as his B-day and X-mas present. I think the only thing I'll miss is the right click.

if the processors are the same but the Mac is faster - then that means that the rest (video bus, I/o, etc) of the Mac is running faster - no?

You can set up your new macbook so that you tap the touchpad with two fingers for a right click, or control click.

I guess my point is, a Mac now is not a Mac anymore. What makes a Mac a Mac is the machine (RISC based) + OS. Take out the OS, and it's another intel/amd based PC/notebook.

I am not disagreeing about the Macbook's test results. In fact I am very impressed with it.

Damn. My laptop cost more than that and has so much less power: only 2 gigs of RAM as opposed to 4, 2.33 ghz Dual core as opposed to 2.4 ghz DC, and that thing has a better video card. I want a mac :mad

The move away from risc processors was so very dissappointing for me, its exactly as you say. Apple is the new HP/Dell with a different OS, and us number crunchers have to go back to using SGI (even they sold out...), HP-UX, AIX, etc. boxes to solve the problems mac's could have handled a few years ago
