Leave it to me to crash an MacBook

Thought it couldn't be done?
How about doing it in only 5 days.
Yup.
You read it correctly. Just five days is all it took me.
Amazing.
All the computer woes I had been having lately and I top that off with a bum brand new MacBook.

Great news is I went back to Best Buy and they quickly took care of it.
Told them what happened.
Computer kept closing applications for no reason.
Keyboard would not work and would have to shut down and restart to get it to function again.
Then, to top it off, the burner went nuts today.
Laptop was vibrating all over the place during the second half of a burn.
Only the first half would actually end up useful on the disc.
No questions were asked.
They didn't even care to turn the laptop on and test it.
They said they would just go ahead and give me a brand new one.
They were kind enough to open a fire wire cable out of a new package and offer to transfer all my data that I had already loaded to it.
About 45 minutes later, I was on my way with my new laptop with all my original files, programs, settings, etc.

Cudos to Best Buy for such great support that is rare to see today.
I have since had a few members of CS laugh at me on Skype as they believe I am the only one to ever crash a Mac. That just proves to me what I already knew, just leave it to me and I will show you different .

Working on the new one now picking up where I left off earlier today.

To hear all these Mac guys talk, this must be the first ever crash of a Mac (apple) product.

You must have a Best Buy in a seperate dimension...everytime I have had a problem with something I have bought from them they act like I am asking them to kill their first born or something.

Either way being able to crash a Mac is pretty damn impressive...maybe you should be a guest star in those Mac vs PC commercials...

Boca Raton people will nag you to death or wear you down to the point you wish you were dead.

I think it is more Mac driven than anything else.
Who knows if the same would have been true with another brand.
Techie who was there that is really up on Mac told me they had a few bum units. Mac seems to want to replace them if they are located as it seems to change parts out would require an Act of Congress the way these units are supposedly made.

Glad the deal worked out with Best Buy for you. After my experience with them a few weeks ago - as long as breath I will never again have any business dealings with them.

Well, that wasn't so painful... now was it....

Are you sure you, and ANY kind of technology should coincide in the same room lately?

I wonder what might happen to a highly sophisticated piece of electronics if someone spilled a fifth martini on it ....

Glad you are back in the saddle, bro.

And it wasn't my fault... It was all that Donkey smut.

Having been a Mac user since 1986, let me testify that Macs can on occasion crash and burn. Over the 21 years I've used and worked on them, I have replaced hard drives in probably 5 or 6 of them, replaced motherboards in three that I can recall and power supplies in three or four. That being said, the hard drives I replaced were not made by Apple and were in machines that were more than two years old. One of the motherboards fell victim to a cup of coffee that the idiot knocked off the top of her monitor, another was a spilled soft drink and the third was a massive power surge due to a heavy thunderstorm. I also remember having to deal with people crashing their Macs pre-system OS9 because of software or font conflicts. And, I recently had my Adobe Indesign software quit on me when placing a bad piece of artwork in an ad I was building.

The fact that you Macbook crapped out is not your fault. It was probably just a bad Mac that slipped through quality control. However, I didn't know that Best Buy sold Macs, the ones near me don't.
