Well here I go against the grain again, but when it comes to hand gunning, I'll speak my thoughts. Number one, all that so called stopping power of the big calibers don't mean dick, if you can't hit what your shooting at, and especially if your intimidated by the powerful recoil and muzzle blast. Shot placement is what it's all about! You should consider a handgun that both you and your wife will both be able to shoot well. IMHO, the ideal home defense or even carry gun, unless you absolutely know your going into battle, is a reliable .380 caliber weapon. They have little felt recoil and the muzzle blast will not scare the hell out of you. They are easy to shoot and hit your intended target with, and they will not over penetrate, especially within a home environment. A well placed shot with a .380, better yet, two or three, will end it just as well as a big boar weapon. Personally, I carry a colt Pony Pocketlite .380, I have the weapon below for primary use in home defense, and I have several full size 9mm handguns and a Glock .40 as well.

For the experienced shooter who has delt with aggressive threats I can see the use of an auto-loader. But when it comes to new shooters or people unfamilure with the use and handling of a firearm in a hostile situation they will loose.............The experienced bad guy will take the firearm away from the owner.

New/inexperienced shooters need to keep it simple: double-action revolver - light target loads (depending on range/over penetration factors) man size targets, and just point and pull.

Re: ATTN: Gun Aficionados

Update: Late afternoon yesterday a friend of mine went to a local shop to pick up his new Pro Carry. Saw a Raptor there, told the owner he knew someone looking and the price I was willing to pay. Got a call from my friend who said it was a done deal. Walked in about 30 mins later and came out with my new raptor.
