Re: In the market for a truck!

As far as trucks go, Chevy/GMC is the way to go. I had an '04 GMC Sierra. It had the Z71 package, 4x4, and 3.73 rear axle and still got 17-20 on the highway. It had the deluxe cloth seats, which IMO are some of the best seats out there, besides the mesh cloth in the new Fords. I'm not a big fan of leather. I had it equipped with Corsa exhaust and it sounded good without sounding obnoxious. GM trucks get my vote.

Re: In the market for a truck!

I've got a 93 Ford Club Cab Ranger with a 6 and 154,000 and it runs and pulls the boat like a champ.I would buy a 2008 GMC Yukon loaded it's what we the owner of the race boat has 2007 and it's indestructible and we beat the heck out of that puppy at least 100,000 road miles a year

Re: In the market for a truck!

IMHO.....Toyota is the way to go. Without knowing what you're needs or driving habits are it's kinda hard to say for sure. I do know that you can get a heck of alot of truck in a Toyota. You mentioned something about having a little one. There's not a truck on the market that has more room in the back seat than Toyota. Plus they have a stupid lease special going right now where you can lease a $30,000.00 truck for around $350.00. The residual is something retarded like .00130 (basically 0%). If leasing is NOT your thing you can finance one for 0% for 60 months. Cosmetically speaking...the only truck on the market today that looks as nice as the Tundra is the Silverado IMHO. This coming from someone that has spent the last 15 years in the automobile industry working for different manufactures with the last five years being spent as a finance manager with Toyota. Last year I had the opportunity of going to a ride and drive for the release of the new Tundra. Where I had the privelege of driving all of the competitors Dodge, Nissan, Chevy and Ford. We tested all of above mentioned trucks in everything towing, braking, payload capacity and braking with/without a load. The only truck that came close to the Tundra was the Silverado. Speaking of braking the Tundra has the largest brake drums of all of them. Do yourself a favor and go out and drive your top three choices but don't just drive them around for 5-10 minutes on the designated test drive routes. Drive them under your normal driving conditions. Put them to the test and then make your decision.

Re: In the market for a truck!

I picked up a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with the hemi last year and I love it. Dodge was basically giving them away for $20k from a $31k msrp. It's been a great truck so far, more power than I could ever use and the quad cab seems to be the perfect size, not too big but plenty of space for groceries. It has all the features I could want short of leather and a sun roof. Plus for me I think it's the best looking of the trucks but that's a purely subjective thing. I liked the look of the Ford too, but in contrast to the above poster I thought both the Tundra and Silverado look like ass. But then again I hate the Ashton VSG, so what do I know?

I will be looking into getting a new truck in about 4 months. One of my top choices is the Nissan Titan. I have had 5 Nissan products all the way from a pickup to an Infiniti, and have loved all of them. A friend of mine has a crew cab Titan, and he loves it. The V8 has plenty of power for towing as he uses his to haul his track car and trailer all the time. Price wise it is very comparable to the price and features.
My brother in law has a Titan. Sweet looking truck with plenty of power, but the brakes on that thing are just way too weak. It barely has enough braking power to stop itself empty, now fill the back and tow something and you have a real mess. I would certainly give the new full size Tundra a look as well as the Titan. His is an older model so they may have addressed the brake problem by now.

Re: In the market for a truck!

The new Toyota is awsome, but even full size Dodges get better gas mileage. Go browse some truck forums and see what the buzz is there.

Talking Re: In the market for a truck!

Ok here we go!! No rude comments as I know half of you will not agree with what I got, but listen to this deal I got.

Its a 05 Dodge 1500 slt its got a 5.7 V8 Magnum not the hemi I know I know! with 60k miles its the extended cab, full size bed, and it also came with tv monitors in the head rest (good for my 2yr old). its in great great condition with only one previous owner!! And I got all of this for only 16,000K after taxes, tages, and title!! SO Tell me what you think and dont worry you wont hurt my feelings! And THANKS to all of you who commented about your experiences with your respective trucks even though I didnt go with some of you they were all good!!

Jon

6 1/2 it looks like, which is the only way to go when you get a crew cab.
A 8 footer makes a crew cab way too long imo...
BTW,I have a crew cab short bed truck

Re: In the market for a truck!

Nice truck, especially if YOU like it. You'll be glad you have the extra doors and seating, too.

I have a '95 Dodge extended cab 4x4, and have been very pleased with it. I t-boned a car at a stoplight with it 6 years ago, and when State Farm totaled it out, I bought it back and had it rebuilt. Other than having the tranny rebuilt at 172K miles and a heater core issue, I've had no issues with it and feel I more than got my money out of it. When it gets 200K on it, I'll probably get another truck, but will keep this one around for hauling and other dirty work.

Re: In the market for a truck!

Chevy/GM man here, i currently have an 04 Sierra ext. cab, and have nothing but good luck with it and my mast GM vehicles. On a side note, i know the Dodge trucks rank real high on the stolen vehicle list, another issue to think about.
