There's got to be something wrong with your car. Given it's DC, and you'll never get good gas mileage in DC, still, you aren't getting any better than our hybrid, and ours isn't a compact.

Reasons I got my hybrid.

1) Tax Credit
2) Looks sweet
3) Gas Mileage
4) Because I'm a better person than Darb85

Seriously though, with the tax credit, and the option packages, I got the hybrid cheaper than the comparably equipped non hybrid version.

By looks sweet, I mean it looks like a regular car. We got an Altima Hybrid and so far we like it a lot. Oh, and it's not too slow either. 200 HP, so we won't be racing it, but it'll hold it's own on public roads with most normal cars.

My beat up 1991 Civic gets 40 on the highway at legal speeds, 35-36 around town. Honda hasn't done squat for mileage in 16 years as the new Civics get worse mileage than mine. The CRX HF (high fuel economy) Civic from the that era got somewhere like 49/52. Whats the deal with hybrids that can't match a gasoline engine car (albeit a small 2 seater).
