Bruichladdich Single Malt Scotch

James MacEwan, the former master distiller for Bowmore, has revived this venerable Islay malt. It is non chill filtererd with no color added and is bottled at 46%. It comes in a 10, 15, and 20 year old version. I have tried the 15 and the 20 and they are outstanding. To those lovers of Islay style single malt I highly recommend this dram. It has more peat then the Bowmore, but less then Lagavullin. It reminds me a bit of the old style Port Ellen. Great stuff, check it out.

Steve,

Thanks for the info. I have never tried Bowmore, but I fell in love with the taste of Lagavullin. :9 :P

Thanks, Steve. I'll add this one to the list. I still have to find a bottle of Springbank 21 to try (I've not looked that hard).

If Steve says it's good. It must be good! Time to stop off at my local purveyor of fine spirits this afternoon.

It's tough to find in Georgia. I've only been able to locate the 10 year old. I've had the pleasure of sampling some of the others elsewhere, and this is one of my favorites.

Thanks for more spirts guidance Steve. I found some 94 Grahams LBV you suggested.

I couldn't find any Springbank on the shelves so I had to order a bottle from my local purveyor of spirits. The only thing he had available was a 10 y/o and a 12 y/o so I'm gonna give the 12 a try. Reading up on this label it seems that availability is limited and costly in the us ($80+ for my bottle). It also seems that they are a very eclectic distillery with labels coming and going on a whim. Anyway, everything I've read backs you up, Steve. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Thanks. Next will be...?

I love the 10 year old. Very oily with hints of coconut. The 12 year old is very hard to find and you should definitely snap it up if you can. Springbank is one of the few remaining family owned distilleries left in Scotland. They are quirky with their releases. The 21 year old is out of production now and will soon be unavailable. A great brand.

I've read that the previous version of Bruichladdich was similar to Bunnahabhain. How do you think the new version compares?
