Key West, FL...Anyone been? What to do???

Yes, we have rented a house with a few friends. BR's full kitched, Patio, Jacuzme the works. Should be a blast.

WOW, what a trip.
First, thanks everyone for the suggestions, while we didn't get to everything, theres always next year!

We did plently including: Porky's BBQ in Marathon, Hemmingway's house, The Truman Annex, Walked Duval street 2 times shopping, The Conch Train tour (this was awesome), The beach, Southern Most Point, Rented scooters and did our own tour of the island, a couple of sunsets,

Other Hightlights:
I got a quarter into the mouth of the fish at Capt Tony's
The Conch Shell drop on New Years Eve at Sloppy Joe's
The drive from Ft Laud to Key West (took 7hrs due to the traffic of 2 accidents)
Grain-er-ades at Fogerty's
Matt Quinton performances at Irish Kevin's (he's a personal friend)

I did visit and purchase a few of the local cigar shops. Cuban Leaf Cigar, Conch Republic and Cigar Alley. The Cuban leaf Torpedo in Ct Shade was Awesome. Stable, well wrapped and had a light peconte after dinner flavor with just a hint of mellow smoothness.

Opps, I just found this thread. Not sure how I missed it. Did you stop at Robbie's and feed the Tarpon?

I just made reservations for this summer at Big Pine Key, but I'm sure we'll at least make it down to Key West for a day. My wife has never been to the keys before.

Ahh man, I used to go down there twice a year since I have family there.

I have a funny story about Cigar Alley. Not too bad a place, I smoked my 1st Cusano Corojo there back in 2000. Anyway, my uncle (who works in Naval Intelligence & works closely DEA, Border Patrol, etc) and I walked in there one day. The guy behind the counter is trying to talk my uncle into buying a CC, LOL. It went something like this:

Retailer: "Don't tell anybody, but here's a CC you'll really like!"

My Uncle: "Ahh, funny. Looks like were in the same business."

Retailer: "Oh yeah? What's that?"

My Uncle: "Customs."



I've never seen someone backpedal so hard!

It always pissed me off to be treated like a no-brain tourist when perusing those shops. Aside from that, I LOVE the Keys.

Steve, if you end up on Big Pine, try and make your way to "No Name Pub". I swear they make the best pizza south of NYC. And if a blackened Dolphin fillet, smothered in Bleu Cheese is your thing, grab a "Black & Blue" over at Mangrove Mama's (just on the other side of the bridge connecting Cudjoe Key & Summerland Key). Deelish

And I seem to remember a large freshwater swamp/lake on Big Pine where there lived a great big ass Alligator. There's an observation deck if you want to try and locate him (visually of course, lol).

No doubt about the pizza at the No Name Pub ! I have been down there fishing a few times, and we usually manage a night there.

And yes, there are BIG gators in that lake!
