I have a friend who is wanting to go. The cheapest he can find a ticket for is $3K. Anyone have any other sources? Thanks!

On the homepage, click other for country selection.
Click on the flights radial button.
Best bet is to search on flexible dates for the best rates.

DC to Queenstown starts at $2023, but this does not include taxes :[.

To give you an idea - it cost me about $2000 NZ (US$1500) to get to LA from Auckland. I saw a deal on orbitz or travelocity for $900 return. It is high season at the moment for us since it is summer.........yes - you heard right......SUMMER[/SIZE]

You might try http://airnz.com/ they're hit and miss on the good rates, but if you sign up for the email offers they'll send you some good ones every month or so. If you go, have a great trip - one of my brothers lives just outside of Auckland.

That's odd, but then, air fare to NZ is always expensive. We're flying round trip to Fiji (just north of NZ) for $1400 each. Found that on both Travelocity and Orbitz.

Air New Zealand has always had the best rates, I'm pretty sure AirNZ & Qantas are the only 2 carriers that fly there & Qantas flights are double what AirNZ are
BTW the cheapest day to fly is on a Tuesday

Washington DC to Auckland return around the middle of FEB $1632 + $80 Taxes & fees

[SIZE=3]I flew Qantas coz they were cheaper than Air NZ.
United fly to NZ as well but go thru Aussie which is good if you want to do both countries. Air Pacific is another option thru Fiji as well.

Fiji is awesome - was there in April and hope to be back there in October this year. Staying on one of the outer islands is my recommendation. We honeymooned on Treasure Island and I have stayed at Castaway as well.
