Heart Broken.......

I am sad to report that this holiday weekend has been one of the most trying experiences of my life. My wife and I had been having some pretty significant issues as of late, and a week before Christmas she left the house, needing time to think about what she really wanted. Well, she informed me on new years eve that she decided to leave the marriage.

I am lucky that we are childless and have few assets...but this has been one of the most painful times that I can remember.

Since I've been on this board I've grown quite close to a number of you, so I figured it would do me some good to let you folks know about it.

Here's to hoping for a better 2008....

Jared I'm sorry to hear about the tough times, especially so close to the holidays. I know how that can make things seem worse. I hope things get better soon...even if you are an Ohio State fan

Sorry to hear that. The timing certainly sucks but I guess it always sucks. I've been there and know what it's like. It's at least fortunate you don't have children that have to deal with this at Christmas time. If it is meant to be, it is meant to be. If that's the case somewhere down the road you will find someone else and realize you are where you should be. My wife and I broke up when my son was about 2 or 3 and it was a terrible time. I met my current wife a few years later. We have been together for 17 years now and coming up on our 4th anny. As hard as it was to go through I would not want to go back to where I was. If the two of you don't work things out then at least know that it happened for a reason. So you could be happier in the future.

Going on two years divorced here, with two kids that I have custody of.. It does eventually get better. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and I promise it's not a train.

This place was a welcome respite and actually has gotten me out of the house a few times to meet a couple of BOTL's (Guitarman and tchariya).

Still dealing with a few things from the divorce, but they will soon be taken care of and I will be ready to start again.

Hang in there bro', we got your back.

Anything said at a time like this may seem trite, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason. It may not be that long before you understand why this happened, because something else was coming into your life. A new person, a new place, could be a lot of things. Though we only chat occassionally on the Forum, my ear is always open if you need someone to talk to, someone who went through much the same thing a couple years back.

Tom, that's not at all trite. Plenty of very smart people have been telling me the same things. The more I hear it, the more I begin to believe it.

Its not very comfortable to read about a BOTL's marriage breaking up specially when you're about to tie the knot but things do happen to us for a reason and usually for the better. Its best for two people to separate and look for what they want in life rather than being miserable together. I know its very hurtful and I have never been through such an experience but I have had my fair share of set backs in life and things do usually work out.

Keep your head up brother you have much happiness coming your way. Take care...
