Very cool. Customer service is job 1.

Makes me feel even better about the Epi I have had for the last 20 years and still struggle to learn to play. (whacking that fingertip off in 99 doesn't help much either)

Re: Guitars giving me the Blues

I love my Epi Jr.

I got it from Guitar Center last summer at a discount because someone dropped it on the bottom corner near the jack and put two large cracks in the finish. Didn't seem to hurt the wood at all though, I dropped a tail piece and better bridge on it and replaced the stock pickup with a Duncan SH-1 and it sounds purty now. And it has the tobacco sunburst finish to boot.

Glad they're replacing it for you, it sounds like the glue didn't hold the pieces together.

Re: Guitars giving me the Blues

I think a lot of acoustics end up with cracks, etc within a year of assembly due to the tension on the wood. The models made overseas may also see some odd humidity changes while on the boat. I am glad to hear the mfr replaced the axe. The Epi Masterbuilts are quite nice - I played one at GC recently and liked it.

I have two Fender acoustics (DG100 and DG20BL). The DG100 has been abused quite a bit and still looks good - although it has needed its fair share of truss rod adjustments and the sound is somewhat muffled. The DG20BL stays in the case when not in use, and has maintained its brand new sound for the past year.

I guess it is a toss-up. I love Seagulls, but they have their fair share of cracking issues. The seconds end up on eBay for a helluva price and still sound good.
