Any Port Aficionados?
I've finally decided to take the plunge into another age intensive and expensive hobby - port wines. Any LLG who take their port wine seriously? Any good recomendations for bottles good for aging right now? How about any primed for drinking now? Thanks for any help.

RE: Any Port Aficionados?
Hey Kiran I sure do love ports. go to www.zackys.com they are having a great sale on vintage ports. My fav, Dow '77 is 20 bucks off a bottle. I highly suggest you go there and place an order. Anything from 63,77,94 or 97 from dow, taylor or fonseca will be of good quality. PS I will try to send you a package soon but I have been lax in my duties to several folsk so hang tight. PSS most stores do put the scores on the great vintage bottles only so often do the main houses lable a year as vintage so these will be the best ones for aging.

What? You're branching out from your bourbon? LOL I'm not a real 'cunnosewer' of ports, but I like the Talyor Fladgate 10 year tawny. I believe it goes for around 20 a bottle. Fonseca, Quinta do Noval, and Grahams is good as well; but I don't care for Sandemans. The only thing to do is start buying and drinking a lot, to find what you like :7

Try the Whisker's Blake Tawny Port from Australia. Has become one of the staples in my bar. I get it for $14.99 a bottle here in Atlanta.

RE: Any Port Aficionados?
Speaking strictly of Vintage Port I love Fonseca 70. It is ready to drink now and I prefer it to the 77 which is also ready. To lay down I would recommend something from 94, by all accounts this ranks as one of the greatest vintages in a long time. My tastes run to Fonseca, Grahams and Taylor Fladgate, although i keep some bottles of Dow, Warres and Crofts.

You know what? Those da_n Aussies make great wines! Even the French are concerned. They laughed at , and still do, our west coast wines but are scared sh_tless about the Australians. Great quality & great prices - only longevity is yet in question.
