How to Become a CS Addict in 5 easy steps...

I'm an sys admin by trade and generally a geek just to let you know where I'm coming from. I've started an excel spreadsheet of cigars smoked, received, and gifted. To quote my wife upon discovering said spreadsheet, "honey I love you but you really are a major geek."

In chatting with some fellow BOTL's at a local herf, not one of 'em uses THREAD TOOLS. I've found this to be the case of other forums I've been involved in or admin'd for so it's not like it's just the BOTL's. You know you've seen it up there at the top of threads. There is a nice forest green, horizontal line right above the first post in a thread. It leads to a gold horizontal line with some neat drop down menus, one of which is THREAD TOOLS. Want to become a fiendish member, ravenous of any new post at any time, provided you are connected to the 'net?.

So here it is in 5 easy steps:

1. Find a thread you think is heading in a good direction that is providing you with knowledge, entertainment, or the best of all, both.

2. Locate THREAD TOOLS as described above and click on it.

3. Click on Subscribe to Thread

4: Two boxes will then appear in the middle of the screen. Click on the first one right where the little arrow points down and a drop-down menu will appear. Select " Instant Email Notification."

5. Below the two boxes is a box that reads "Add Subscription." Click on that.

Your screen should change and message should tell you 'Your Subscription has been added to this thread." To confirm this is the case if you aren't sure, just go back to "THREAD TOOLS" and click on it. Instead of 'Subscribe to thread' it should read 'Unsubscribe from thread."

Every time someone posts a reply you will be notified. You really are that important that you should be notified. Your passion for great smokes demands your attention and you can't but beckon the call of the email notification. It's like crack for stogie addicts.

So there you have it. Don't blame me when you become even more addicted to this site than you already are.

Hey, believe it or not I had one of those computers. I lived in Los Gatos at the time and the place where I worked was getting rid of it so I took it home and messed with it for a while trying to write some kind of moon landing game program until I gave up. It used audio cassette tape for the media. That must have been late 70's or early 80's it's all kind of a blur.

Growing up my pops had some connection with someone who knew someone who knew someone and we had those things all over the place.

One thing is for sure, 'Lemonade Stand' was where is was at when I was a kid! Guess it's no surprise I turned into a sysadmin.
