Because, that way you have one ring to wear instead of an engagement ring and a wedding band.

but why does that matter?
when you wear both side by side, they're in the same spot on your finger that they would be if they were physically connected...

It's more of an issue of symmetry. If they were to roll around the finger, they would roll together. If you have a plain wedding band, it doesn't matter. If you have a band with stones that compliments the engagement ring, they look best when they are lined up properly.

Re: Engagement Ring

I got my fiancee a bridal set....but it's not too overly blingy.

and they dont fuse together.

if she likes the sets, definitely get the set, if it is within your means. HOWEVER, we went out looking, because she kept telling me she liked yellow gold band, princess cut diamonds.

after looking for maybe...a day or two, she changed her mind and then white gold was her favorite, along with round cut diamonds.

and of course after talking to the jewelry store people, she wanted a better clarity, cut, and size, etc...

jewelry stores are trouble.

anyway. the set i got has the engagement ring, and then the wedding band slides next to it, but kind of curves around the main diamond while still showing off the diamonds on it.

i might have a pic.

here's thumbnails of the engagement ring.... none of the wedding band yet, being she doesnt have it yet since we're not married....

but if you can imagine a round ring with a slight curve where the main diamond goes....that's how it sits. and she preferred it nonsecured to each other, so that she could just wear the wedding band if she wanted (to keep the other diamond from getting in the way).

I dunno....they're pretty picky about all that type stuff.

That's why we did it with my wife's set. She has a three stone setting on her engagement ring and a wedding band with diamonds. One would turn while the other stayed in place, and it bugged her.

Re: Engagement Ring

We didn't buy a set, although now that i look back at it, it would have been ideal and would have saved some time. What we did was, we looked for bands that would match the engagement ring. it took some time but we found it. We ended up getting 2 bands that sandwiched the engagement ring. I like the way it ended up, it was nice.

Re: Engagement Ring

I've heard of some guys that get a engagement ring for the engagement, and a ring set for the wedding cerimony. In the end your best off getting her what she wants.

Re: Engagement Ring

To make a short answer long, or vice verse, yes and no. As long as the two rings have a similar shape and make contact yes, otherwise no or maybe.

I would go and talk to a jeweler, and pick out the rings you like, and see if it can be done.

This is where my useful knowledge ends on the subject, I just went threw the process, only mine was sort of easer, as my fiancé was very specific, no big stones, and she only wants one ring for both engagement and wedding, so sets were out of the question for me. My choices came to ring design, and that is why I suggest a jeweler, they can help a lot. It helps if you know one like I did, but they are all pretty helpful.

Also, congratulations, and good luck, or the other way around, which ever works best for you.
