I'm not advocating pollution, but we don't need government regulation for a "problem" that has not been proven. Heck, I'm a corn farmer and I am against SUBSIDISING ethanol. It's not efficient. I am, however for nuclear, but once the talks turn to that, the same "environmentalists" who are saying the world is coming to an end will not allow nuclear power to come to fruition.
I get ya, land of the FREE... my point is, if you care about the planet you should not want to buy a Hummer... I love SUVs and I agree they are safer, I rent one every summer. But there are SUVs and then there are Hummers... I guess all I am saying is if people thought about what was happening to the planet I would hope they would make a better choice. I have a problem with the people with a FTW mentality. Not saying that is anyone here... but we have all seen people like that and know people that just don't care...

It's not human's causing global warming it's the cows! That means if we eat more beef, we'll reduce the number of cows that belch and release methane gas which contributes to global warming.

Just ask Sweden

Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle

I have to laugh whenever I hear about scientific "consensus".

1000 years ago, the scientific consensus was that the earth was flat.

150 years ago, the scientific consensus was that man could not go faster than 90 MPH, due to stresses on the human body.

75 years ago, the scientific consensus was that man could not go faster than the speed of sound.

A "consensus" is the lack of valid science.

Bwah hah ha! Love that link, macjoe53!

These envirofreaks KILL me!!! Animals make CO2, plants use CO2 as fuel and release O2 in to the atmosphere... If it were the opposite effect, The plants releasing too much O2, do you really think that we, as animals, would have ANY problem using that 02? Seriously? Of course not! The addition of 02 into our systems only helps in the growth, sustain, and healing of our bodies... Check out hyperbaric chambers if you dissagree.

Any theory that dares suggest that we are releasing too much CO2 for our planet full of plants to use is laughable at best.

Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle

With all the Simpsons talk lately, I can't help but hear Lisa saying "A political debate in my own kitchen, how exciting" (from the episode where Mr Burns wants to become President)

This is a hot issue everywhere, but I personally am not a believer. I don't think we have caused or are causing global warming to anywhere near the extent that is being claimed by the likes of Al Gore and his cohorts. But I can't help but think that reducing Co2 emmissions and cleaning our drinking water would really be a bad thing for anyone. We need fresh/clean oxygen and water to live.

Do I believe Al Gore?...NO. I work in the IT industry!

However, I do give credit, albeit on a marginal basis. He is creating awareness. And sometimes that's all you need to make change. In history, changes have occured in waves, generating new technologies. The awareness creates these wave and spurs new levels of thinking to solve the hot issues. We are beginning to see some of this in our new levels of conservation, renewable resources and etc.

The only real issue I have now is funding all of this. My personal belief is that major corporations should bear the brunt of this. Our Gov't is handy in passing new tax laws that shred us of every available dime to fund their new world-saving programs.

I don't know about other countries, but there is more forested area in the United States today than there was when the country was founded.

Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle

I'm sorry I just can't believe that... you are telling me that today, with a population of a little over 300 million, america has more forests than when no one other than natives lived there?? No way, I don't trust your stats on that one. Acres and acres of forests cut down for crops... acres and acres cut down for cities... I mean, IMHO there is no way

I could be wrong but that goes 100% against my logic

Yea, I find that very hard to believe. Anyways, one not need to look further than the Amazon rain forests to see deforestation at it's worst. Brazil is having problems controlling the logging industry there.

I also find it hard to believe that we have more forest land now. You also bring up one point that is often overlooked when you mentioned the Amazon rainforest and Brazil and that is that 95 percent of the time the United States takes all the criticism when it reality other countries have far worse environmental records.
