I don't think global warming is limited to temperatures rising around the globe it refers more to weather fluctuations on either side. Quetta is in the middle of a desert so it is surprising to see snow

Actually, as dumb as it sounds, he's on to something.

I'll try to stay unpolitical on this one here, but recently the "alarmists" changed from calling it global warming to "climate change." My first thought when I started hearing that was they are covering their collective arses so they can still play chicken little when the changes happen either way on the thermometer.

Oh, and daniyal, if this is proof that global warming is happening, or climate change is happening, then how do you explain that it has snowed there before, regardless of how rare it is?

Well to be honest like I said earlier this is by no means a scientific study it was some what facilitated by the shock and awe I suffered after receiving pics of my friend's back yard in the mail and thought I'd share it with my fellow gorillas was never meant to be political or such.

Abrupt climate change (see the day after tomorrow) is the real scare for the planet but how much human influence has affected or can stop it is the debate. I personally think that we may have some but not to the point many green politicians want to say. This planet has a weather system well beyond are understanding.

On the green side I think that regulation and conservation is very important as long as its not at the expense of just the middle class. I don't understand wasting energy sources just because we can.

The unfortunate thing is that most of the money spent on environmental issues goes to people like Al Gore and the Head's of all the non-profit groups rather than being spent on scientists who could perform some real studies. Only a miniscule portion of their budgets are spent on research. When they can correctly predict the weather next week I'll know they're getting somewhere.

I remember seeing 'The Day After Tomorrow' and thinking that's plain Hollywood no way something like that could happen and I still do unless ofcourse a meteor hits the earth which may cause a dramatic change in climatic conditions.

Other than that I don't care much for the global warming debate sure weather around the globe is changing but hey that's a pattern that's followed for many centuries where once we had oceans and forests we now have Las Vegas. I think people's resources and energy would be better spent trying to cure global hunger. I mean with all the feed people in Africa, India, etc campaigns going around do we really need to pay farmers to grow nothing? People around the globe suffer from lack of clean water, shelter and food to eat with all those issues still taking centre stage for most of the world do we really need to talk about what may happen is we keep going at the pace we do?

First off, the attitude of your post is generally not how we do things here in the jungle. Secondly, you might want to re-read the wiki post. It looks like the lack of snowfall in recent years has been due to a drought, not to an increase in temperature.
