any trading card collectors!?

Ok i need help with a card. My buddy received a set of 12 autographed michael jordan basketball cards of his career. His grandma had won both sets at a raffle or something and gave one to him. He gave a card to me for my birthday.

Now i can't seem to find what it is worth anywhere online i've checked ebay and google and cannot find it! It's made by upper deck card# 8 of 12 and the front says 1992 in the background of MJ slamming the ball and its a shiny gold material (not hologram). Then under his signature says "Back-To-Back".

Try Beckett's. They've been publishing monthly card value magazines for years.

Are they bigger than normal trading cards?

Re: any trading card collectors!?

Also, what is the year the card was printed? Should be on the back with the rest of the Upper Deck info.

I have a Gatorade set from 2000 that looks similar. Upper Deck produced a lot of these "special" sets - most of them are not worth much.

Re: any trading card collectors!?

Are they actually signed- or is the sig part of the card? Jordan's autograph is fairly valuable. But, frankly, in this day and age even "limited edition" sets have millions of printings and are, alas, worth muy poco.

Whatever you do, don't believe Beckett's prices. They are unreasonably overinflated.

However, PM me if you are looking to sell this.

Re: any trading card collectors!?

Those look like the Gatorade set. I'm NOT a trading card guy, but I've got that set stowed away somewhere.

I wouldn't suspect that selling them would put my kids through college, though!

Re: any trading card collectors!?

I use to be into trading cards. I bought my first house with my sports card collection. Actually the down payment for it. Beckett book value was $35,000 for the complete collection. I sold it for $13,000.00 I easily had 2 thousand various sports cards. Some of the top $$$ cards I had were...

Basket Ball
Bill Russell Rookie
Wilt Chamberlain Rookie
Larry Bird Rookie
Michael Jordan Rookie
Abdul Jabbars Rookie

BaseBall

Nolan Ryan Rookie
Several Mickey Mantles
Several Babe Ruth
Several Willie Mays
Ryne Sandberg Rookie
Cal Ripken, Jr. Rookie
Carl Yastrzemski
Lou Brock

Some times I wish I still had these. But hey it's only card board till you turn it into cash right?

Re: any trading card collectors!?

it doesn't say much info besides the copyrights and stuff for 1998.

from what i can tell... it looks like he actually signed it. there are streaks from the sharpie or whatever he used there is also a hardline that you can feel where the ink starts and stops.

it is bigger then a normal trading card and it doesn't say anything about gatorade on it.. do the others?

Re: any trading card collectors!?

if we can find the value of this and find that it is high enough. i may put it up for auction here on CS instead of ebay or a local card shop and have some of the money i get from it go towards the troops.

Re: any trading card collectors!?

searching through my drawers some more i tumbled on these which ARE the gatorade edition ones... so that means the autographed one is not the gatorade series and i compared autographs.. unless it was some extremely high tech super powered transformer straight out of japan shit... this is a real autograph!

the 92 "in question" card vs 92 gatorade card

flip side of the two

card "in question" vs the gatorade set (minus 2 years... they are MIA)
