Any grad students out there?

Anyone else a grad student? I'm also working for my dept as a TA, and I just handed back some position papers today. Those were just painful to grade. I swear, some of my students are dumb as soup. Others are just lazier than, well I don't know what.

Any good grad school stories out there?

I stared at this for 5 minutes and decided not to post my original thoughts because I would sound like a whiny, bitchy, crotchety, old guy. Suffice to say that I agree with the lazier than comment regarding a good number of my classmates in night school who do nothing productive but party and sleep all day while going to school part time. This is not meant to stereotype a certain age group but just observations based on my small sampling.

I will say this, despite being skeptical of it when I was a grad student: Mark's right. Grad school = the easy years. The tenure track is when things kick into high gear; so enjoy it while you can.

Grad student here!!!!!!!!!!! Going threw it with as much of a positive attitude as possible I know if I want to advance I have to do this!!!! Be a teacher and in grad school has shown me that students on all levels are lazy as all get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting a Masters in Public Policy and Administration...Will be 90% done with the entire program on March 1st, when I hand in my capstone "project" whatever-you-call-it. I have to return to take 2 electives in the fall because I started the program in a Spring Semester, but I don't have to take summer classes for the first time in 3 years. I'm pretty psyched to be in the home stretch.

I'm a grad student myself....in a K-8 Math Specialist program. My only argument is that some of the people in the program do not belong there. There are people trying to get a math specialist degree that are completely dumb to math.... how are they going to be a decent specialist in an elementary or middle school when they barely understand the subject?

Being a teacher myself, I can vouch for middle school students being just as lazy as the grad students you speak of. My absolute favorite is when I hear "Oh, we have a test today?", when it was talked about and reviewed the week prior. Or, "oh, homework is due today?" when it was on the blackboard with the due date for the whole week prior...ugh.
