Why do we buy DVD's?

I bought my fair share, but then I worked indirectly for Time Warner and was able to get just about everything put out by them (WB, HBO, TNT, TBS, etc.) for free! Since I don't work there anymore and actually have to pay for DVDs again, I pretty much only buy Live Concert DVDs now.

Because when I want to watch Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, I want to watch it NOW not in 2 days when it arrives from netflix. :P Plus there's some cool stuff that you just "have to have."

Uh...buy DVD's? What's that.
I did the Blockbuster/Netfilx thing for a little while.
Now, I use "other" (see: free) methods to watch movies.

because the cost of a DVD is the same as tickets for 2 to the movies, I get to sit in my own chair and not have to worry about someone kicking the back of mine or touching knees with the guy that looks like he's contracted the Avian flu.

Been with Netflix for over 5 years and this works great for us. Other than the occasional channel surfing on Sunday and running across Jaws, 3 Days of the Condor, Alien (s) or Jeremiah Johnson....I can't think of the last time I watched a movie twice.

I think I own 20 DVD's - all of them concert videos

I've did the Netflix online thing for about a year and then switched to the Blockbuster online thing when they switched it so you could return them at the store. I love the Blockbuster online thing. You can get stuff they don't carry in the store.

I have over 500 DVD's I know why I buy them

I am a bit of a collector of things (as I would say many on here are based on some of the humi pics I have seen)
I like to watch it in my pajama's

I stopped buying DVD's. I still have so many that I've purchased, then never watched.

Now I just use the Internet.

I buy DVD's of movies that I really like. I probably have about 40-50 in my collection. I generally don't buy the DVD if I haven't already seen the movie.

When I get the urge to buy a DVD movie, I go rent it. That kills the urge for a year to buy that movie, and for $2.99 instead of $19.99.

I don't. Except an occasional Teaching Company lecture or historical program. I used to tape movies off HBO or whatever, and found I never watched them a second time! Maybe if The Sopranos is ever in the bargain bin.....

I only buy older movies and Dr Who episodes. Oh, and all the Clerks stuff.

There's so much stuff to watch via cable and the internet that I don't feel the need to archive anything anymore.
