The Pandora.com reccomendation thread.
This thread is inspired by the cigar smoking music thread in the ACL (all cigar lounge).
Now...here's my Idea for this. Post a band that you like to listen to, that may be obscure and someone else may have not heard of them. Talk about the style and the sound. When you see a band that you would like to try head over to http://www.pandora.com and create a station using only that band. And the most important rule: If you post in this thread, you have to include a band to check out. SIMPLE! So I'll kick it off. Tim Armstrong You may know this punk rock living legend from such punk ska bands such as Operation Ivy and Rancid or perhaps from the Transplants or even as the owner of Hellcat Records (Dropkick Murphy's were once on this label.) He has an album out that is really freaking good, and really almost out of left field. He teamed up with the Aggrolites and their fun blend of old school reggae, rock and funk, and laid down some tracks with Tim on vocals and guitar and the Aggrolites taking up the rest of the positions. Worth the listen, definitely a lazy summer day sound. The channel brings out that old school reggae sound and beckons for a Graycliff's smoke to fill the warm ocean air.

Re: The Pandora.com reccomendation thread.
Great idea! I've been listening to Pandora ever since it started up.
Here's one I have on most of my stations: California Guitar Trio With a whirlwind of instrumental styles fusing classical, rock, blues, jazz, world music, progressive, as well as the quintessential California musical genre surf music, the California Guitar Trio's stunning virtuosity and sly sense of humor have earned them an enthusiastic following and wide notoriety, with significant crossover in the progressive, acoustic and classical music scenes.

Re: The Pandora.com reccomendation thread.
www.pandora.com has become a big time consumer for me as of late...and I can thank Bobb for that. I LOVE that website... Currently I have been working on creating a station based on two different songs... the Kinks Well Respected Man and Martin Sexton The Diner. Don't ask why those two songs are the main seeds but I like them...
As for smoking...a lot John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk... |

Re: The Pandora.com reccomendation thread.
Just wanted to bump this thread since my brother just introduced me to Pandora today. I am hooked. So far I've let it get off on a Jam band tangent and Latin music based on Buena Vista Social Club. For those who haven;t tried this site it is great

Pandora is awesome. I listen to it at work. Limp Bizkit is good. I don't like Limp Bizkit all that much, but it gives you all the music similar to Limp Bizkit.

Great idea, I listen to Pandora at work when Rome is not on and I get tired of all my stations and try to branch out by looking at other peoples created stations.
A few good artist I have purchased b/c of Pandora: The Format Fury in the slaughterhouse Steve Earl

Re: The Pandora.com reccomendation thread.
One of my favorite stations is base on an old r&b classic The Temptations "ain't to proud to beg" you get some amazing original R&B artists.
I also dig a station based on the band Dressy Bessy and for you Punk fans a Dwarves based station rocks. I'm checking out the Tim Armstrong one now and will follow up with some of the other suggestions.
