Computer woes

Well gents, something drastic has happened, i can no longer access CS from my work computer. I found this little oasis where i can come hang out for a little while each night, but this is going to seriously cramp my style! Is anyone aware of anything that was done to the site in the past 3/4 days that would cause it to dissapear from my online browser? Maybe if there is an IP i can connect directly? I dont know, i need help though, I have already spent 70 bucks on some Hoyos, and without CS, that number is going to continue to increase!

Just thought i would let everyone know that unless something can be done to fix this, my post count is going to slow considerably. I hope I can work a resolution to the problem!

Re: Computer woes

You asked about an IP you could connect to, it's included in what he posted.

If that doesn't work... do other websites still work fine from that computer?

Try this:

http://70.84.216.14/vb/index.php

Be aware that some smilies don't seem to work from the ip address.

Also possible but rare, if the dsn cache is borked try this from a command line:

ipconfig /flushdns

Of course you don't know me so entering stuff from a command prompt under direction from a stranger on the internet might spook you so:

Re: Computer woes

I suppose if it works with the IP there wouldn't be a need for this, but in case it does, another one to try might be decimal.

http://1179965454

*note This doesn't work on all computer anyways.

Does it give you any error messages when you try to access the page?

What comes up when you try to get to CS? Do you get an error or a page not found?

I get a server not found msg

I tried the IP addy, no luck.

Some computer savy guy said it might be that CS might use a port that is blocked by the army for security reasons, does this make any sense to anyone? is there any way around that if thats the problem? What port does CS use? I dont even know what a port is! thanks guys

Re: Computer woes

It just seems strange that it was working fine one day, and the next...nothing. I wonder if you have a network administrator that restricts certain websites that are not for official use. (e.g. adult sites etc.) Do you happen to know if there are certain sites that are restricted from your network? If so, that could be your problem, in which case, there's not really a way to get around it (not that I would even try). If not, try this. Open your browser, go to Tools, and Internet Options. Click on the buttons that say Delete Files, Delete Cookies and Clear History. Then click on the tab at the top of that box that says Advanced, and click on the button that says Restore Defaults. Let me know if any of that works.

Re: Computer woes

Well there are many sites blocked from our computers, but if you hit one of them you get a message that tells you the site is restricted and the reason why, that doesnt happen in this case.

I dont think it is a setting that is wrong with my computer, it is a network thing, cause any computer i go onto in the JOC (Joint Operations Center) will not go to the site, although it will go to almost any other non-**** site. i have to use the MWR computers to get to this site. I wish i could fix it cause this site helped pass my days SOO much quicker...

Man, then I'm not sure what else to suggest. That does suck though. Maybe someone else with a bit more knowledge than me has an idea. Anyone?
