Bald Eagle in my backyard!

Was out playing with the boat on Saturday and out of nowhere, 2 Bald Eagles come swooping in, low and fast. One had left by the time I got inside to get the camera, but one stayed a few minutes for a couple pics!

When I was in Alaska, it was not uncommon to see a power line with several perched on the line. Eagles are such majestic birds, their presence commands real respect, more than any other bird. Great photo.

Re: Bald Eagle in my backyard!

What a wonderful experience.

I hope you don't mind but I noticed your photo had a lot of detail in the shadow, so with a little bit of Photoshop and iPhoto magic I opened it up some to reveal this. In my zeal I probably overdid it but I just wanted to see into the shadows.

Thanks for sharing and I hope you don't mind.

Don't mind at all! I have admired many of the photos of yours, you do great work! I am always one step away from really getting into it my pics with Adobe Photoshop and learn to manipulate my Rebel better but I never do

I love to take pics though.

It must have been a rush to have the where with all to grab the camera and take the shot. I just didn't want to steal any of your thunder.

Must be amazing to a pair of those flying around in the sky. Bald eagles are nothing short of amazing to me. When I look at a picture like that, and actually look at the birds face, I almost get chills.

Re: Bald Eagle in my backyard!

I'd love to see one in the wild. I guess I'll have to get out of NYC to make that happen. I missed one by a few minutes on a camping trip in PA. ....One day.....one day!!!

Excellent photo!

Head north to upper Westchester and I think Putnam Counties. We used to see them on occasion while fishing the Croton Reservoir and feeder streams in the late '60's and early '70's. There are also reports of them being seen around the Palesaides occasionally. A day trip or a camping trip to Mass in the area of the Quabbin Reservoir will yield both bald and golden eagles, peregrine falcons and if you are lucky, maybe an osprey. A ride along the Taconic might also produce some sightings on the Hudson River.

Re: Bald Eagle in my backyard!

Such a majestic creature.
I get goose bumps knowing someone got a chance like this to see it and take a photo in the wild.
Someday!
