Root Canal
So how can you top off a great Easter holiday....Root canal!!! In a little over an hour I'm scheduled to go in for a root canal. To be completely honest I'm not looking forward to this at all!! I hate getting my mouth frozen and the sound of the dentist's drill and that sucking thing they put in your mouth to suck up the water/saliva. Oh well, it has to be done. Can't wait to be able to eat ice cream again or have an ice cold drink without my tooth making my head explode with pain. I wonder how long it'll be before I can smoke a cigar? I hope everyone had a great Easter!!

Good luck with the proceedure Nick.
As for how soon, I'd just ask the dentist / oral surgeon. I have heard everything from a few days to a few weeks.

My root canal was a piece of cake. I went to Dr. Dent in North Platte, NE who specialized in root canals. He did a brilliant job and it was painless. Hopefully, you will be as lucky.

Depends I was able to smoke the same day I had it done. It may be different when the put the crown on, I can't remember.

I had one a few years ago but I didn't smoke at the time so I can't really tell you. the only part that freaked me out was feeling them saw the nurve out of the tooth. Take my advice....don't wait 2+ years to get a cap put on.

it's really not that bad nick.

I had two root canals last year. Man what a pain. Having my jaw pried open for over an hour was not fun. Hope yours went ok though!

Thanks everyone, it really wasn't bad at all. I thought it was going to be a lot worse but the hardest part was having to hold my mouth open for over an hour. There was really no pain other then paying the bill. I wouldn't want to do it again but I won't lose any sleep if I had to.
